Only way that happens is if these states like Georgia and Florida follow the norm and play HS Soccer in the fall. ...or... the other schools change there season to the spring... hmmm... Except like 40 of the 50 states play in the Fall. Only some dumbass thought oh this sport with pads that causes more injuries and long term damage is more important. There’s absolutely no logical reason why HS soccer can’t be played in the Fall. Only reason is football coaches don’t like sharing.

So why on Earth would you play soccer in the fall no matter how many states do it wrong like that? Some kids might actually want to play both sports in high school and spring soccer makes that possible.

I think an obstacle would be the lack of field space. I am not sure now, but when I went to school in Dekalb county, there was one practice field and the schools didn't have their own stadium. All the football/soccer games were held at a few stadiums in the county.

If I lived down there with my kids I would not want them to change it to the fall. Heat stroke is a real thing. In fact the high schools in Florida should play football in the winter too.

Lot of players want/do play baseball or run track and also play soccer and having soccer in the fall makes that possible. Can’t play every sport and most soccer players are smart enough to not risk injury playing Hs football. They wait till college when they can get paid. This argument can go on and on. Either way GHSA is a joke and has some serious problems they need to fix before high school sports fade away in the next 20 years.

An overwhelming reason in my mind is that's a lot of games(and practice) to manage while they still need to go to school and maintain their grades(Which in the end is more important than HS or club soccer for 99% of the kids). Up to 4 games a week with 3 nights of practice for 12 weeks assuming none of those overlapped? I'd think if it were played in the fall you'd have fewer kids playing HS soccer that had to choose between club and HS.

If high school was in the fall, club season would be in the spring. Now, high school is in the spring, so club is in the fall for U15 and above.

Actually, I saw more serious physical injuries in soccer than I did football, but I know that is just anecdotal, right?? I will say that, in many cases, just because the majority are doing something one way, it doesn't make it the "RIGHT" way.

All the football/soccer games were held at a few stadiums in the county. Interesting. I never would have known this.. at my rural Ohio HS and my current OTP suburban Atlanta HS there are tons of fields on school property. The only issues back in the day were the soccer/football stadium was narrow because of the track around the outside and the field got wrecked whenever football got played in the rain. Literally ruined for the remainder of the season.... Now they’ve upgraded to artificial turf and separated track and field so the stadium field is wide and always in good condition to play day after day. I didn’t realize some schools don’t have fields. TIL.

The heat is only made worse by artificial turf. Before I lived here I was in Tampa for a while and I was impressed that many high schools had beautiful Bermuda grass.
