AFU will be run in the ground by Pettus, Leisz, and Holtz. They have no clue what they are doing. Anyone who has actually watched the AFU 05 NL girls play would know that SCCL 2 is two steps down for that team. People can spin it any way they want it, with the cute PR releases and nice maps of the SCCL 2 brackets. It's still a step-down. I'm sure if the members of the AFU board have children at AFU who currently play at a higher level than SCCL 1, they sure as heck won't let them drop down to SCCL 2! I have watched the AFU 05 Elite team and believe that SCCL 2 will be an easy league for them though I am not convinced that they will steam roll everyone. Regardless, a club cannot make a decision on one team alone and the majority of the teams will fit into SCCL well. Besides if they do well it sounds like they can be promoted

For ufa where will sccl 2 be played out of norcross too? Good question I’m wondering the same and if the top team is out of Fowler I’m sure Norcross will be upset and if the top team is at Norcross, Fowler will be upset. So, solution to the problem is have a top team at both Norcross and Fowler for SCCL & SCCL Premier. Not sure if they will allow it? Not sure how it will work at other clubs yet, but for UFA, this is what i've heard. The top team at UFA is Premier, followed by Red. For this upcoming season(2019), SCCL will be run out of Norcross and will be assigned to the Premier team. The red team out of Norcross will be in the Academy/Select with Georgia Soccer. Now at Fowler, the Premier team will be NPL(TPDL) and the red team will be the SCCL 2. Starting next season(2020), the club in their infinite wisdom and based on the relegation/promotion will determine if the red team out of Fowler is stronger than the premier team is out of Norcross. Then the "SCCL" tag will be given to the "better" team. Sounds great, but in all honesty, this further drives a wedge between Norcross & Fowler. I think SCCL should always be run out of Norcross without the risk of it being moved to Fowler. Now things may change and the decision may be to leave it that way, but if I were UFA, I would clarify that. Because, if I were a parent/player on the SCCL team, I would want to know if I could potentially have to move to Fowler or vice-versa. For us, the move to Fowler, added another 40+ minutes to our commute, but we were aware of that when we chose to make the move...FG

Not to change the subject but any Norcross girls DPing with the DA teams?

I believe there are 3/4 girls DPing, but I'm no longer at Norcross so I don't know if they are actually from the Norcross location. Once we moved to the Fowler location, it's hard to keep up. I do know the DA coaches pair current DA players with future players as young as the U11 team. As far as I know, that is only done with the Fowler players. None from Norcross has been invited. Bottom line, if you want to play DA for UFA, you have to be out of the Fowler location, or be a Studdess and be willing to travel to Fowler...FG

We know people on one of the teams that said "we don't belong playing SCCL. We just aren't good enough." I know these parents would rather their kids play at a slightly lower level so they could win some games. On the other hand you have a "build it and they will come mentality." If you keep giving it to Norcross will they get better players to go there (stay there)? It may take a few years to figure that out though. The evolution of the process, with so many changes year in and year out make it hard for the intended process to mature.

Here is my question regarding the scheduling. They have a map where they listed the east and west divisions and the drew the bubbles around them. What is the deal with the intersection of the bubbles? It puts Augusta Arsenal and two other teams from the east and Carolina FC from the west in a middle bubble. Is the intent of this to imply that there will be some cross over games between the east and west with these clubs???

UFA Girls: Will the 06 Red team out of Fowler become the 19-20 NPL team? I am assuming that the current 06 NPL team will be the majority of the 06 GDA.

I could be way wrong on that though.

I haven't seen any more mention of the Tenn. teams that it was rumored would be joining the 1st division SCCL either. Is that not happening or what? If it is, I would think they would be in this new 2nd division also. Which would change this map also.

That new AFU board is vindictive and clueless . MM will do everything they tell him for fear of not going the way of GH.

I would expect close to half of the current 06 NPL team to move up to DA, but you know what they say about assuming?!? Haha! Also you never know who will come from another club to tryout for DA. Many small clubs have 1 or 2 per team that are capable so you never know until tryouts.

If it is, I would think they would be in this new 2nd division also. Which would change this map also. The Nashville & Chattanooga teams couldn't work out the logistics of keeping travel to a minimum. The original proposal called for all of Nashville's games to be played in Chattanooga, to reduce the travel time for the SCCL teams. As you can imagine, though receptive at first so they could join the SCCL, they ultimately couldn't wrangle their players/parents travelling for ALL their games home/away...FG

Interesting Info: SCCL, ECNL, & NPL are all part of US Club Soccer and are not part of US Youth Soccer (GA Soccer). Why is this important to know? All of these leagues are "club based" and not "team based". US Club Soccer does not support pro/rel and US Youth Soccer does. Therefore, you will not have pro/rel in SCCL, ECNL or NPL.

On AFU/MM/SCCL, this was his decision to join the SCCL.
This is speculation on my part, but I imagine AFU will put teams in the SCCL that it makes the most sense to put into SCCL (teams not currently in NL IMO). 2005 Gold team would be a good candidate for the SCCL, they're currently Athena B.

I’m guessing SCCL Premier will be the elite league to be apart of. I heard this will be the replacement for ecnl for Tophat. Is that true? Tophat will leave ecnl and only keep DA which will make SCCL Prem next and Sccl under that SCCL > SCCL-P

AFU won't have both NL and SCCL.....thus the anger of parents. The NL team which beat three NPL teams in the fall tied a current SCCL -1 team at state cup, is being stuck in the bottom SCCL division.
05 Gold should have been assigned SCCL-P and worst case, 05 NL should have been put in SCCL-1.

If SCCL > than SCCL-P does this mean that another announcement is pending on the same sort of expansion for that division? I'm not understanding why you would have so many clubs in at a lower level & then cut it off to at the next level up. Why would you have a lower level group of teams traveling more? Am I missing something? Absolutely the best approach. Everyone here is crapping on AFU right now, but we have seen one announcement basically saying they are expanding into a two-tier system with SCCL being top division and SCCL-p being 2nd division. They have not announced much as far as the top SCCL division yet goes. Who is to say they are not going to expand it as well and AFU be a part of that top division as well at least for some age groups where they have strong teams? I think we need to wait and see. I'm sure plenty of other info is coming on this soon.

The hardest part about deciding what competition to put a team in is trying to predict how a change in players might affect a team. Since the teams don't remain the same year after year, using a past year's record may not be applicable. So the club has to make an educated guess. If 5 players are lost to a different team (higher team or another club or another location) and you add 5 more (same possible sources), how can you really know how that will turn out? You can't. So I think it is excusable, but still unfortunate.

IMHO, I believe the modus operandi should be like GDA. You don't move GDA to the Mountains or south Georgia, based on them having a good enough team. It stays at Fowler. The same should be true of SCCL. Yes the players can come from other locations and other clubs, but it is run out of Norcross. Much like NPL is run out of Fowler, SCCL should be run out of Norcross and SCCL-P should be run out of Fowler...FG

The same should be true of SCCL. Yes the players can come from other locations and other clubs, but it is run out of Norcross. Much like NPL is run out of Fowler, SCCL should be run out of Norcross and SCCL-P should be run out of Fowler...FG Completely disagree with this. For instance my son is on an SSA branch location team. I think it is a pretty good chance his team will be the SCCL team or SCCL-p team that SSA puts into their age group. I believe SSA will have two teams at this age group for SCCL/SCCL-p. I think whichever team they feel is strongest at year end and loses the least players will likely be the SCCL and the other will be the SCCL-p. Keep in mind our team is in the Classic system right now and there is already an SSA team in SCCL. So it would be competition I would assume between his team and the current SCCL team on who is better and should be in the top division. That being said our team is pretty cohesive. There are kids that could probably play on the SSA current SCCL, NPL, or even DA team, but none of the kids or parents want to commit to driving an hour both ways 3x a week to train and none of the kids want to actually leave and start playing on a new team that doesn't have their schoolmates etc... on it. That being said putting one of the SCCL teams at our branch location to train is not a big deals since we will have two SCCL teams at that age group most likely and the ones that don't want to travel to the branch location can tryout for the other one in Cobb. I know for a fact no one on my son's team will tolerate being in SCCL and having to train in Cobb. Either they will be in SCCL and train where we always train or either 1 or 2 things will happen. They make his team train in Cobb they will lose 80% of the team including my son. The other option is just keep us in the classic system, which from what I am hearing SSA and the Big 5 want all their teams out of Classic/Athena eventually. So my guess is they will allow his team to continue to train at the branch location even if designated the SCCL or SCCL-p team. I realize that likely his team will never truly probably ever have a real home game anymore if they become SCCL. Likely all his home games will now be based out of Cobb, but I think that is tolerable to parents as long it is just games and not training.
