I know for a fact, the season 05 AFU girls "qualified" for NL, they brought in up to 6 ECNL players to play Athena A matches. Without their ECNL players, they were a top Athena B team. And....because they kept bringing in ECNL players, the poor girls that were putting in the grind sat the bench. Many of those girls left for other clubs because of this. Now, this team isn't the same team, but I know they still bring in ECNL players to play games...they did so in preseason tournament this season. Let's see how they do in SCCL when they can't move players like before. I don’t know anything about this specific team, but I can’t stand playing an Athena A game with our real Athena A girls and seeing the other team stroll in with several SCCL patches and a few ECNL patches. I say roll with the team you have. It may not be technically cheating to bring girls down 1 or 2 levels to stack a team, but it feels like cheating.

I know what AFU was doing...they were trying to beef up their resume so that they could show they have an ECNL team and a NL team...the only way to accomplish that was by bringing down not 1 or 2, but 6 or 7 ECNL kids down to get them qualified. They accomplished that task, so hats off them I guess. As long as you can lay your head down at night without regret, I can't judge.

To the guy who claims the other poster must have kids on the team: sounds like many of you are making claims about facts about the team? Do you have kids on the team? The lies are hilarious. I'll try to take them one at a time.
1) The team has NEVER had 6-7 ECNL kids brought down. EVER. 2) WE did bring 4 once when our opponent GSA, were bringing 5. WE had two out that game so brought 4. Do I hear any complaints on here about GSA? 3). We didn't have a bunch "leave". Some left because they were not getting playing time. That happens EVERYWHERE. Usually, its backups. 4). Someone claims the poster trashed the team. Lie. The only thing I see trashed on here from time to time is the new board. 5). That AFU team used an ecnl player twice in the fall because of injuries. That is all. The team below the NL team had games that weekend and were not available. 6). Some genius wins the Sherlock Holmes award for for figuring out a poster may have a kid on a team. Everyone on here probably has a kid on a team. Way to go captain obvious!
The double standard here is breathtaking. If you are a parent at TH/CF/UFA you KNOW you maneuver the rules to get the most advantageous use of the rules that you can, yet some person ignorant of the rules attacks AFU for using 7 ECNL kids in a game........that is the most factually inacurate statement I have read on here. I believe this parent must be from a player who left because of playing time.

Seems to me some people are taking shots at others because they "may be" a parent at AFU and someone how that invalidates their points. That's probably true. But I have a put up or shut up moment for all the "big talkers" like OXman.
1) Starting with those trashing the AFU, I challenge everyone to list their name, their club, their team, and their coach. Therefore, all claims can be invalidated because they are coming from behind a mask.
So, put your money where your mouth is, or stop bashing belittling people you think are from AFU in order to diminish their opinions

MADOX knows a lot as "facts" he/she says. Unfortunately, not true.

Keep in mind an ECNL patch doesn’t necessarily even mean that they are on a roster. Most places are in 2 year uniform cycles and it’s entirely possible that kids were on the ECNL roster the prior year and possibly not this year.

I don't quite understand all how this is as big a dispute as it is, especially on this thread.
1)This thread was to find out when SCCL expansion was announced, it has been. The thread should be dead. 2) Some clubs have ECNL and SCCL. Sometimes players from those teams use them in NL, Classic and Athena. It's legal and if smaller clubs had it I imagine many of them would do the same from time to time. 3) There is nothing we can do about it, it will continue to happens. If the kid is in the correct age group/gender, aren't you basically saying its not far because they were better than us?
