League quality comparison. UFA 03G Premier in US Youth NL: 0-5-2 UFA 03G Premier in US Club NPL: 3-4-0 UFA 02G Premier in US Youth NL: 0-6-1 UFA 02G Premier in US Club NPL: 6-0-1 UFA 01G Premier in US Youth NL: 0-6-1 UFA 01G Premier in US Club NPL: 4-1-1 SSA 00G Elite in US Youth NL: 0-5-2 SSA 00G Elite in US Club NPL: 6-1-1 US Club NPL is clearly a lower level but also appears to be the right level for the Big 5, at least if you like easy leagues. Can’t beat them, then start your own league. Interesting, subjective conclusion. How about that SRPL was poorly run? Too bad about NL record for SSA and UFA, but it was probably run well.

I still don't see any consistency as to why Concorde has to choose GDA or ECNL.... Following the idea that ECNL has mandated that clubs with both have to maintain a certain level of performance, then how come FC Dallas still have both? They performed pretty poorly in ECNL, worse than Dallas Texans, but looks like the Texans had to choose and chose GDA. FC Dallas have performed worse in relation to Concorde in their Conference. I'm sure it's all politics to some extent, but you can lose credibility when there is no consistency. Your last sentence - couldn’t have said it better myself. I think ECNL is already more credible than the former SRPL given the slots that clubs were allowed to keep when their top teams moved leagues (vs Player continuity).

Tryout registrations are open now but in the UFA website for example, there is no information whatsoever about these changes. How about the other clubs? Internet sites are not reliable this year at this time.

Futsal Gawdess, in your opinion would the CL team be considered the 2nd best team or the 3rd best team at UFA? Basically the team right behind the DA team? I'm confused since I thought I saw some comments that this new SCCL should be better than the NPL team, at least in theory. I think that will depend on age group and gender. Usually girls Norcross Premier is not as good as Forsyth however once they are U14 the DA team starts and pulls kids from all over. I think it will be different in each age group. As an aside I never got the impression that SCCL is supposed to be a higher level than NPL. I think the NPL is to give an opportunity to those former RPL teams something to play without having to fall back into Athena A. SCCL is also an alternative to RPL so I think only time will tell which will end up more competitive. The same UFA 01B Norcross team played both NPL and RPL last fall. For this year NPL, the top teams play in the playoffs (ENPL) with the top ECNL teams - so I doubt SCCL will be considered the better team.

Why do they have to choose? Granted I am not "in the know" but the Concorde Tryout Pages are updated and state: When registering for DA, select Central as your tryout location When registering for ECNL, select Central as your tryout location www.concordefire.com/tryoutsGM I wouldn’t go by clubs’ internet pages at this time.

Would love to see UFA-Norcross be able to attract and retain more talent. I know several girls/families that left for more opportunities that was perceived (perception is reality?) to exist at either UFA-Forsyth or at other clubs that had an ECNL or DA team at their location. For 01B, I’ve seen the top RPL team switch from Forsyth to Norcross. It doesn’t matter what location - you’re in the same club. Btw - I’m not a UFA parent. If your son/daughter is talented, they’ll match you up with the right team.

After last night’s coaches meetings do we know which locations will be DA, NL and SCCL? Do you mean DA, “NPL”, and SCCL?

Wow, I just don't see them dropping either. But, that would be fair to the other clubs. And just to reiterate, SSA has NPL.

1. CF is making theier decision on ECNL or DA today. They cannot keep both. 2. Iggy is not running SCCL- he is leaving coaching to spend time with his family 3. The coaches leaving and taking their teams with them.......................there will be one club allowed to keep ECNL as well as stay in Ga Soccer...................AFU. I'll let y'all connect the dots on where players and coaches aginst the SCCL will go....................... Funny, thought discussion about having to choose between ECNL and DA was over - I.e., CF can keep both.

Another question I have for those smarter than I am... UFA has multiple locations, but each is run independently of each other, so if UFA Forsyth joins the SCCL, but UFA Milton doesn't.... does that mean UFA Milton can still play RPL? To restate... many people smarter than me... I'm not the brightest of the bunch... how is this handled? I’m confident in saying that leagues are club based.

It’s not about locations with SSA. The top team is Elite, and that team is central. Not sure what they’ll do about all of this...

411, this is not a completely accurate statement: "Hopefully the 5’s new League will offer a competitive level version of State Cup with their new SCCL League. Though most of these teams from the Big 5 are 3rd teams with their clubs." Speaking from a UFA perspective (and boys team): The top Boys team at UFA is DA, but that is a club wide team; not specific to a location. In Classic 1 U13 you currently have UFA Fowler and UFA Norcross. Those two teams are the top boys team for u13 at each location. They are not the second or third Norcross or Fowler team. Constantly stressing that SCCL will be 2nd, 3rd or 4th teams seems more like trying to convince people that the new league will be weak. I am confused by SSA in the new league. They have no Girls DA or ECNL. So, their top teams are playing THIRD teams from TH and Concorde, and SECOND teams from UFA and GSA? I'm not from SSA so I don't know what else they have to offer their top players. SSA has NPL, so if they keep it, theoretically it would be a level above SCCL.

Not sure about other clubs but UFA will run SCCL for top team out of Norcross and NPL for top team out of Forsyth. (Since DA is a combination of players from Forsyth, Norcross, Mountains, and transfers, Its the top team club wide, but not specific to any location... hence top teams in this regards are the UFA teams playing highest level of classic/athena at Norcross and Forsyth.) Assuming its across u13-18 but really only know about our age group. Rest (Red, Gold, etc...) will play select/athena but it appears that big 5 clubs will not be able to qualify for SRPL or NL (not to be confused with US Club NPL). Forsyth already plays NPL but it has been in addition to Classic. I think they played 8 games all year in NPL. (I know the boys side not up to speed on girls side) NPL will be going to something like a 15 games season for Spring and Fall. For ‘01 boys, the NPL team was UFA Norcross.

What was it that made RPL so poorly run? Just total mismanagement(poor leadership), apathy, a mutiny? Terrible communication with TMs about game scheduling and rescheduling - had no idea what was in the works, and later realizing that really nothing in the works - they were more than OK with canceling games at the end of the day.

I was confused over ur wording - I understand the distinction between the 2 leagues. You’re post read to me like all 5 are moving forward with SCCL and staying with GA Soccer. They are moving forward with SCCL and they're staying with GA soccer. Their teams that dont play DA, ECNL, NPL or SCCL will play Classic/Athena Ok - I thought that playing SCCL, like NPL and ECNL, meant you can’t stick with GA Soccer.

How is it possible that the big 5 won’t withdraw from GA Soccer and also move forward with SCCL? 1. SCCL is US Club and not USYS/Georgia Soccer 2. Big 5 backed down from wothdrawing all teams from Georgia Soccer. The threat of withdrawing all teams is their go to leverage device that they have used for years. It didn’t work this time. I was confused over ur wording - I understand the distinction between the 2 leagues. You’re post read to me like all 5 are moving forward with SCCL and staying with GA Soccer.

Realization is setting in. The Big 5 will not be withdrawing their teams from Georgia Soccer. They will be moving forward with SCCL though at least one of them, SSA, is having second thoughts. Losing NL is an expensive price to pay for SCCL membership. How is it possible that the big 5 won’t withdraw from GA Soccer and also move forward with SCCL?

It’s a mess, I agree. And it’s also the chicken and the egg, when trying to identify the protagonist. That said, for me, as a parent trying to do what’s best for my son, as soon as I realized he’s a competitive player, I began to navigate the club system as it stood 7 years ago through today. I do believe that the clubs are as such because of their competitive business approach. Coaches are quick to roll their eyes at parents questions and actions, all the while it’s the clubs and leagues trying to gain a market share by creating this or that. There is a very minor group of parents that will hold these clubs’ and coaches’ feet to the fire in terms of providing opportunity or taking a new approach for our kids if they should stay on. It is usually met with pushback, and parents don’t want t disrespect the coaches or be considered a problem parent.

I believe in moving on in life, but I don't know why GA Soccer is raising such a stink (granted, it's a money thing too), because I have no evidence that they leaned hard on SRPL over the past 2 years, when the administration of the league was just plain abysmal. I wouldn't want the job of SRPL scheduler, but obviously other leagues are run far better and I assume the communication at least with team managers are far superior to what I experienced personally as a TM one year. Harsh, I know, but they are reaping what they sowed.

Correction: 7e. UFA - first team in ECNL, second team in NPL, and the rest will play Athena and Classic. UFA has DA on Boys and Girls side. Have not heard about second teams playing NPL but also have not officially heard that second team would play SCCL. Rest will play Athena/Classic. Hahah, UFA has DA, yes, but not ECNL. They played NPL this Fall season.

Super Y helped us network with our current club, moving from a smaller club. That said, Super Y isn't what it used to be, and I think most clubs, especially those with young DA programs, would be OK with getting rid of it.

Some points after reading a lot of the discussion:
1. NPL is run by US Club Soccer, so if US Club Soccer is also running SCCL (which I understand to be the case), then you should notice an improvement in the administration. 2. NPL is not exactly a feeder team to ECNL (I've seen nothing about promotion from NPL to ECNL). I have seen that top NPL teams will play in the ENPL (playoffs) against ECNL teams.

Georgia Soccer tells Iggy that he is out of RPL and he responds by throwing a temper tantrum and removing all UFA teams from Georgia Soccer. Now all the UFA teams are stuck playing a terrible league that will be managed by people that have no clue how to run a league. The stupid part is Iggy's move didn't get our teams back into RPL. All he got us was all UFA teams out of RPL, Athena, Academy and Classic. Not well thought out. For what it’s worth, NPL was so much better run than RPL. Night and day.

I'm willing to bet this SCCL will be tabled, if the USYS designs their league to the liking of the big clubs.
For me personally, the new USYS NL Conference league would only be good if USYS does away with 2 divisions, and frankly disallow slots held by teams that did not earn the spots in the former SRPL.

We pay $350. Best money ever spent. I glean a much different salient point from the article. DA doesn’t have to deprive kids from playing HS soccer.
