Agree it is a little embarrassing but I don't even think it was meant to be their strongest starting line up. Three of the more hyped players on the roster did not play at all. Including Georgia's own Riley Jackson (Concorde 04) who was a heavy favorite to lead the midfield. I imagine they expect some tougher games ahead.
Mexico has two Georgia girls on the roster. One from Concorde 05 and one from Tophat 05. And Puerto Rico has one from AFU 05.

The brackets are set up way before the season even starts, so everyone knows which region slots play randomly I guess and the only thing they break up is each region so they can't play each other until a semifinal. I'd hazard to guess that since there isn't an 'official' rankings that this is the 'fairest' way to do it, but really it's just random and actually gives some teams a chance to look to dump a game at the end if they'd get a better draw... It does cause some crazy match ups. But yes, these brackets are set at the beginning of the year and are the same for ALL sports so it is probably as fair as it gets. Some schools might be football powerhouses but not soccer. Or tennis...

I think it gets tough from here on out. Really anyone's game.
There should be some GREAT 2nd round games in Girls 7A: Harrison/Alpharetta Peachtree Ridge/ Campbell Walton/Roswell Hillgrove/Dunwoody West Forsyth/Brookwood
Boys 7A too: Pebblebrook/Peachtree Ridge Hillgrove/Meadowcreek Harrison/Dunwoody Parkview/Lambert Forsyth Central/Brookwood
Pebblebrook Boys (a 1 seed) got a tough draw. First round played a 4 seed South Gwinnett team who was really a 1 seed that was stripped of wins for using ineligible players and not sitting the mandatory two game red card suspension but still managed to squeak in as a 4 seed. Pebblebrook won 2-1. Now has to play Peachtree Ridge that destroyed South Forsyth, the defending state champions.

This is an absurd case of poor sportsmanship. No school should be trying to score 21 goals. And no player should be left on the field to score 11 goals in one game. Agree - the coach pulling the "hey I'm just playing the cards I was dealt" act is such a cop-out. It didn't prevent him from doing the right thing. Interesting the 2nd time this same team played them, they forfeited. Commerce only got a 1-0 win for a forfeit. I guess that's one way to stop them from running up the score.

Here is what I don’t get about that argument—you play everyone in the region. Win all of your games and you are the first seed from your region without any tiebreakers. Tiebreakers are only going to apply if you drop a couple of region games and are getting close in as the 3rd or 4th seed. Yeah I thought about that too - if you take care of your business in your other games, a tie-breaker never comes into play. This team knows they aren't anywhere close to not making playoffs.

Speaking of 6A / 7A… it’s a shame what JG has done to what once was an astonishing harrison girls soccer program. Absolutely shameful. Putting good players to waste. Destroyed the equity of the program and ruined the reputation. Not what it used to be. All because of poor coaching decisions. What are you talking about? They seem to be doing just fine.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think AFU owes you a scrimmage or game? They’re ECNL, and neighbors, what good would come from them playing you all? Is their a positive side for them or just for All In? Both sides have to have a reason especially with the 22 ECNL league games they have to play between August and December, plus preseason tournaments and ECNL showcases. Oh and HS ball starts in less then a month too. Just because you’re desperate for games since NL only gives you what 10 or 11 games doenst mean they want to add more games. This is spot on. Our ECNL team will have played 36 games from August to early January and then head right into high school season. We have 4 players CURRENTLY out with ACL's, two nursing ongoing ankle injuries, and one out with a pulled hamstring. We can barely field 11 for required games. Ain't no time for scrimmages. That's just asking for more injuries.

It is a league rule and the clubs are the ones bound by the league constraints. The school wouldn't be breaking any rules. They don't owe the clubs anything.

MLS Next is 7 substitutions over 3 stoppage/moments and NO re-entry at all starting at U15. U13/14 is no re-entry per half.

I heard SSA MLS Next was going to 4 x a week through a parent but maybe somebody could confirm. The 4th training would be focused on watching game film and working out in their new gym? I believe MLS Next requires clubs to train 4 nights a week.

U19 has no MLS academies. They are all NPL teams just moved up a level. Play the same 5 teams 4 times all year long.

One stayed at SSA. 15 moved to Concorde full time. 2 quit club soccer all together to pursue other opportunities. 1 tore ACL in the week leading up to tryout week. 2 are currently out with ACL's. And one is just coming back from ACL.

Specifically u17, U16, U18 What is your predictions for the encl girls standings. What will the Concorde Fire Premier teams look like if a majority of those players left to go to SSA GAL. I’m very interested in Josh’s old SSA team who has been Concorde Fire premier to see now at u17 and josh gone, how many stayed ? One stayed at SSA. 15 moved to Concorde full time. 2 quit club soccer all together to pursue other opportunities.

I think that is the list. NASA 07 and Concorde Premier 06 boys both play elimination games on Friday against very tough competition. Tophat 04 GA Gold also playing in semifinals game in NC next week. SSA 06 NPL Girls in NPL Finals in Colorado right now. They won their first game today. Columbus Redstar 04 Girls won USYS Southern Regionals and qualified for Nationals in Florida later this month.

Am I reading correctly that U16 won after 14 pks in their first game!?!? Looks like all AU teams are out now. 15s and 16s lost in the 2nd round. 17s and 19s lost in the first round. All correct, but in speaking with folks who witnessed the U16 game there was a whole more going on and the GK should be commended. Apparently, he kept(no pun intended) AU in the game, with save after save. Finished tied 0-0 and went to PKs. The official score was 14-13 but I've heard 3-5 PKs were missed by both teams so more actual PKs were taken. All 11 players on the field at the end of regulation, took at least one pk including the goalies. The AU GK was the same goalie who a few weeks ago scored in a game. Legend has it that he scored the final pk goal for AU and then turns around and stops the game winner. There was pure pandemonium as AU U15s, 17s, 19s, fans, families and onlookers stormed the field to celebrate with the Goalie and the players. BTW due to injury, the GK is actually a U15 playing up with the U16s. I can't remember the rules regarding kids but his initials are NS and yes, for transparency his family and I are good friends... That sounds awesome! I heard one kid took 3 so I figured both teams must have missed a few.

The thing is we are parents might under estimate a team but the girls especially the ones who have played with the star players know better. My daughters knew before the Lassiter game (they are at Chattahoochee) that if they happened to win they were done against Buford. Agree. Buford is pretty stacked with top level players. I would never have under estimated them. Cambridge is stacked too.

My daughter plays at GSA and I think is always been the perspective that GSA & Concord are ECNL What I am curious to see is on the boys side if a UFA and or NASA jump to MLS Next what happens to ECNL- Boys. If you add UFA & NASA to AU & LSA that clearly trumps ECNL with GSA, Concord and AFU. No? I'd be surprised if both UFA and NASA jump to MLS Next. Perhaps one... but not both. Also, if either or both did, what makes you think they lose ECNL? Perhaps they move their first teams to MLS Next and have the second teams play ECNL (similar to the previous year's DA/ENCL structure). I'm not sure how competitive clubs other than AU are in MLS. Does anyone know how SSA, LSA, or Inter have done? I've heard Inter haven't won a game - no word on the others. So, no... I don't think it would trump ECNL - at least not yet. SSA has not done well. Not sure they have won a MLS Next league game yet at U16, U17, U19. The league has been very poorly run so far. No advance schedule. Get notified 2-3 weeks in advance. And TONS of travel. Doesn't seem to be a Home and Away structure as SSA has only played AU at home. Every other game so far has been out of state. Maybe they will figure things out a little better by next year but it was not fun being a guinea pig this year.

I agree that Florida should not have one all to themselves and/or Virginia should not have been in with SC, NC and Georgia. Virginia usually has some darn good players yet only 2 or 3 were from Virginia. I was also very surprised that only one 06 was taken for our region. Agree. The Florida one had seven 06s and two 08s out of 28.

I’m my experience, it is almost always the remainder of the game plus 2 full games. Our team argued one down to one game once bc it was clearly non violent. Everything else has been 2.

Should be a good game this Thursday on the girls' side: Blessed Trinity @ Westminster This should be an amazing game. Several national team players on both sides. I think Westminster has a few that play basketball though and might not be done with their season yet.

Never had an issue like this with Florida teams. I thought Georgia and Florida had their own divisions? Georgia and Florida teams make up the SE ECNL Region. Boys are two separate divisions. Girls are combined. Sounds like OP is referring to girls. Concorde Platinum and GSA were scheduled to play Florida Elite and Jacksonville.

A long time ago soccerfan30 commented that SSA teams' long ball style to fast athletes did not age well. I have not seen this team play this year and don't know if that is what has happened or not. Does anyone know? As an aside they do have a new coach so possibly there is some difficulty adjusting??? Soccerfan30 is quite correct. The long ball style does not age well because eventually maturation of the girls kicks in. At the higher level of girls soccer...and I'm speaking of ECNL...all the girls are fast, athletic, usually big...and the long ball doesn't work. Case in point, Concorde Premier 05 is sitting in 9th place with a 1-5-1 record. This team was the second coming a couple of years ago...now look at them. I have watched this team play twice (both losses) this season. If I were a midfielder on this team I would run away as fast as I could before my skills erode even more than what they already have. JMHO New coach. 3 starters out with injury (2 ACL tears). They are working out the kinks but it might take a while. I feel like GSA is the club that plays long ball the most. GSA 05 had a rough season last year. On paper they should have been much better but they finished near the bottom of the table. Their version of long ball seems to be working great for them this year though. I think they picked up a few better players to send it to up top.
