AFC boys and girls did play NPL this year.
Seems like SSA got the worst end of this deal. This would effect their top teams including at least a few that have already qualified for Premier RPL and/or National League. They are the only club in this Big 5 that does not have DA or ECNL. So now their top teams play NPL only? That is a stretch of a selling point.
And... what about ODP? Can players from those clubs tryout? If not, Georgia Soccer can officially kiss that program goodbye.
US Club Soccer should jump on this and realize how many clubs they have between ECNL, NPL, and Champions League and create a tiered promotion/relegation league. But that won't happen any time soon.
In the mean time... Tell me what team/player did the Big 5 OR Georgia Soccer think they were doing a service to in this stupid battle of egos? I can't think of one that is benefitting from this.

It is usually like pool play. My guess with 12 teams is 3 groups of 4. Winner of each group plus one wild card moves on. Usually there are 16 teams and you just have to win your group to move on.

This is all so insane. Tryouts are going to be a nightmare! Boys already have a huge shake up going on with 04s dropping from 7 DA clubs to 3 and 03s having to deal with the dual age group competition. Now girls don't know whether DA or ECNL is really going to be the "better" league going forward and what clubs will even have either distinction. And even the good non DA/ECNL teams don't know what to expect from the new RPL/NL or Champions League. Then next year's tryouts will still be a zoo because there will be a bounce back effect after the dust settles and people start to figure out the "new" landscape. My advice to myself is to stay put and just let all this unfold. My kids are happy where they are. I can't promise them a better path anywhere else with all this going on so why mess with a good thing until it's not a good thing. My other advice to myself might be to step away from the forum for a little bit

I had never heard of it either. It definitely looks like a good "experience" tournament. But if you look at the results from 2017, I would not say the competition is comparable to Dallas Cup or Jefferson Cup. Middle of July is tough too. New teams will not have even practiced. You would have to register now before you even have confirmation of your team...

What is the best way to see these scores?

It is my understanding SSA will still put their top teams in SRPL or NL if they qualify. Their 2nd teams would play in the new Champions League.

Several of the top U12 girls teams have moved to 11v11 this Spring.

Oh for the love of soccer. I feel like I follow all this more than the average soccer parent but this is just getting ridiculous. It is seriously enough to make you just quit soccer all together. I'm waving the white flag.

Is it standard to get 3 nights of training with a Select team? Is it a true night of training with the same coach, same team? Or just a 3rd night of something like open play, technical training, or speed and agility that might be run in a larger group setting?

Does anyone have any insight as to the status of the girls ODP tryouts tomorrow night? I don't believe Lovejoy has turf?

So we had to move to birth year to get in line with the rest of the world for the top .01% of elite players that may play on the national team and now the only ones bending the rules are those "elite" players. Nice.

I don't understand how all these clubs are calling their teams a certain status already. I was under the impression that you submitted final rosters and then based on the players (and their previous level of play) on those rosters, status would be awarded/assigned.
Some examples I am hearing... Concorde Central 04 Girls saying their 3rd team will be RPL. The 1st team that was RPL this Spring came in last place. And if even they get to keep the spot, they now have DA and ECNL. So seems crazy to think their 3rd team would get to keep that spot.
NASA 03 Boys saying their now 2nd team will be RPL. Their 1st team did not have it it last year and I don't think even earned it in the Spring (5th place in league) and now their first team will be ECNL. So why would their 2nd team get it?
Many many more examples of coaches promising a certain status next year.
Curious are these wishful thinking promises or have their really already been guarantees to certain teams/clubs?

Are the projected game times that are posted pretty valid? Enough to plan hotel nights around?

Will clubs be holding separate ID sessions and then subsequent tryouts for ECNL? Or for those clubs that have both, is it expected that it is one big session and they tell you where you fall from there? Real question being, if you are truly more interested in ECNL, should you show up at DA sessions to be safe? This question is related to both boys and girls.

Trying to make some sense of things... Do you all think this is an accurate picture of both the clubs and the age groupings available in GA next year?
BOYS DA U12 (06) DA - AU, Concorde, UFA, SSA, LSA, NASA, AFC U13 (05) DA - AU, Concorde, UFA, SSA, LSA, NASA, AFC U14 (04) DA - AU, Concorde, UFA, SSA, LSA, NASA, AFC U15 (03) DA - AU, Concorde, UFA U16/U17 (02/01) DA - AU, Concorde, UFA U18/U19 (00/99) DA - AU, Concorde
ENPL U14 (04) ENPL - Concorde, NASA, GSA, AFU U15 (03) ENPL - Concorde, NASA, GSA, AFU U16 (02) ENPL - Concorde, NASA, GSA, AFU U17 (01) ENPL - Concorde, NASA, GSA, AFU U18/U19 (00/99) ENPL - Concorde, NASA, GSA, AFU
GIRLS DA U14/U15 (04/03) - Concorde, Tophat, UFA U16/U17 (02/01) - Concorde, Tophat, UFA U18/U19 (00/99) - Concorde, Tophat, UFA
ECNL U14 (04) - Concorde, Tophat, GSA, AFU U15 (03) - Concorde, Tophat, GSA, AFU U16 (02) - Concorde, Tophat, GSA, AFU U17 (01) - Concorde, Tophat, GSA, AFU U18/U19 (00/99) - Concorde, Tophat, GSA, AFU
I have also heard rumblings of ECNL opening up to lower ages (05s) and more clubs similar to the boys DA. Any truth to that?
Does anyone have any insight as to how the tryout process will work? i.e. DA first, then ECNL/ENPL, then select? Or all at the same time and you need to pick one?

Good question. Are they all playing high school? Although 03 birth years should only be in 7th or 8th grade.

The Disney Junior Soccer Showcase tournament director told our club that there will not be a DA division because of the DA rules with not being able to play 3 games in 3 days.
