How about CF Platinum vs GSA girls today? Did those games happen? Scores? They were cancelled.

A long time ago soccerfan30 commented that SSA teams' long ball style to fast athletes did not age well. I have not seen this team play this year and don't know if that is what has happened or not. Does anyone know? As an aside they do have a new coach so possibly there is some difficulty adjusting??? Soccerfan30 is quite correct. The long ball style does not age well because eventually maturation of the girls kicks in. At the higher level of girls soccer...and I'm speaking of ECNL...all the girls are fast, athletic, usually big...and the long ball doesn't work. Case in point, Concorde Premier 05 is sitting in 9th place with a 1-5-1 record. This team was the second coming a couple of years ago...now look at them. I have watched this team play twice (both losses) this season. If I were a midfielder on this team I would run away as fast as I could before my skills erode even more than what they already have. JMHO New coach. 3 starters out with injury (2 ACL tears). They are working out the kinks but it might take a while. I feel like GSA is the club that plays long ball the most. GSA 05 had a rough season last year. On paper they should have been much better but they finished near the bottom of the table. Their version of long ball seems to be working great for them this year though. I think they picked up a few better players to send it to up top.

I can't think of one boys ECNL player/family I know that knew this. Why bother "joining the league" and hyping it. I'm sure all the local boys ECNL teams would be happy to schedule friendlies with them anyway if that's all they were looking for. I guess ECNL does all the work for them scheduling games this way. Just seems like a crock to me. AU gets to play in two leagues because MLS Next is "nascent". Meanwhile other local MLS clubs are stuck with an 8 game season, driving to FL for home games, and not allowed to play high school their senior year. I can see why a U14 team lucky enough to get to play them would be frustrated that they get to use bio banded players and no one else can.

Not questioning the poster But can anyone else confirm this? Sounds like flix up above is on the AU team and just confirmed it.

Agree - I’ve heard nothing of biobanding allowed in the fall. Not even sure how they could get on the official game roster either, would think the US club system wouldn’t even allow them to be added to game day roster. For ECNL you can just write in "play ups". So I suppose they could have just hand written them in. But someone should have noticed/checked that.

Yeah, well, it happened. Who knows what counts with ECNL. Just very disturbing. There is no bio banding in ECNL. It wouldn't let me cut and paste the rules but the rules specifically say "players can play for their own age group or older age groups". And U15 "trapped" players can only play "during the players sanctioned high school soccer association's competition season" which is the Spring in Georgia. ECNL rules also only allow you to play in one ECNL game per day or per fixture. I saw in another thread someone saying their U17 goalie could play in both U17 and U19 games in one day in ECNL. That is not allowed either. But then again, ECNL rules also state club's must field a team at every age group. AU doesn't. And MLS rules state players can't play in any other leagues. AU plays in both MLS and ECNL. So I think it is fair to say the rules don't really apply to AU.

So who plays on the SSA u19 team that tied Atlanta uniteds 19s in the first MLS next game? Was that their former NPL or SCCL team, given their former NPL team is the concorde ecnl team? SSA 02/03 top team is playing Concorde ECNL Premier (last year played ECNL, previous year played NPL). SSA 02/03 2nd team is playing MLS Next (last year played NPL, previous year SCCL).

I am bumping this because the ECNL website is sucking so bad and it keeps timing out on me. I know UFA and AFU girls traveled to Jax this weekend. Updates? Any other updates? Looks like they are in now for girls games. But the standings aren't current. They don't include yesterday's games even though there are scores. I heard Tampa did NOT come here this weekend to play GSA and Platinum but Sunrise did.

How did SSA build the rosters for their MLS Next teams? For example did they just move their NPL team there then bump everyone up? Seems like their best team is still playing as CF Platinum in ECNL.. Yes. The MLS announcement at all ages came well after tryouts were done and contracts were signed. The only ones that knew they were trying out for MLS in June were the 07s and 08s. All other ages just got moved up from NPL to MLS. Then the SCCL teams moved up to NLP and so on. On the boys side, the only two ages that utilized the "alliance" and have a large portion of SSA players playing on Concorde ECNL teams are 05 Platinum and 03 Premier. Those teams were already set before MLS came along so they stayed in ECNL. Will be interesting to see how that plays out next year though.

At SSA being told season will start 9/12. Tentative schedule shows Atlanta United, Florida Rush, Jacksonville FC, and Orlando City. This is for U18/19. Think the 13/14s have more teams to work with. But I agree with the original poster, I'll believe it when they step foot on a field. AU vs SSA this weekend Do you know what age's from AU are playing what age's from SSA? Are all AU teams playing up?

I beg to differ. I know plenty of kids on the U15 and U16 Boys upper teams that want it. U15 MLS is essentially the former DA team and the U16's are essentially their NPL team. I have heard no rumblings of mass exodus or any issues at SSA. Probably shouldn't spread rumors. So then it is confirmed that non-MLS clubs will have more than just u13 and u14 MLS teams? So if you’re at SSA and you signed up for the u15 SCCL team, you are now the u15 NPL team since the u15 NPL team just moved to become the u15 MLS team? Correct. So far I have only heard of AU and SSA in Georgia that have U15-U19 though. Not much information available.

It was a regular season ECNL game. Premier won 1-0. It was a great game on both sides. Pretty even. Premier scored around minute 30 and did what they needed to do the rest of the game. Both teams missed a few chances. Premier goalie had a few huge saves too.

I think there was an error on the schedule as the u13’s were originally on some clubs schedule in the u13 age group. The 13’s are playing u14, u14’s are playing u15........... AU is still playing MLS league whenever it starts up in addition to friendlies. This MLS thingy has some tentative schedules. Our U18/19 team is scheduled to play AU 3 times this Fall. I cross checked the dates with the ECNL schedule and AU U18/19 has ECNL games on all 3 of the dates. My guess is we are playing their 17s who are not in ECNL. Not sure who our 17s will play then though.

Often some MLS clubs don't like parents asking questions. Parents are problems in their eyes and their is no reason to communicate with them. Speaking of asking questions and parents... Sounds about like our meeting with our DOC over this MLS thingy. Ha ha.

I believe previously on this forum it was stated non-MLS clubs would only have u13 and u14 teams. Only MLS would have the older ones. Seems some have been granted full age group status now.

So hypothetically speaking...
How would you feel if your player received an offer in May, accepted that offer via a monetary deposit in early June, signed a contract in early July, and made a 2nd payment for a certain team/level/league then on July 29th were told that that team would now be playing in a brand new unknown league. A league that is hyped as the most elite league in all the land. But a league that has certain DA like restrictions like extremely limited subbing and no high school soccer or other outside sports. A league that has not announced what clubs are in your conference but it is likely most are no closer than 6 hours driving distance. Yes, strangely it does seem the very elite teams in Georgia will not be in this elite league. A league that has not provided a schedule so you have no idea the cost/amount of travel involved. Oh yeah, and you are on a U18/19 team and are a junior/senior in high school.
Just hypothetically speaking.

Is it confirmed that Atlanta United is only putting their 04 (U17) and 06 (U15) teams in the new MLS league? Are their 08, 07, 05, and 02/03 teams definitely all playing ECNL? Can anyone confirm these ages are on the ECNL schedule?

My kid heard from a few acquaintances that their SSA team has not started practicing yet. Don't they have a tournament in 3 weeks?
I was wondering if pretty much all metro Atlanta clubs and teams have started practice at least. SSA's COVID decision was to offer free summer training to all U14 and under teams including rec that missed their Spring season. It was designed to be 8 weeks of regular twice a week practices and some scrimmages/internal games if local guidance allowed. It was supposed to be only offered to players that were registered in the Spring. It was open to players that have since decided to part ways with SSA but not offered to new players coming in for this upcoming season. It was a "make up for Spring". To accommodate this no U15 and up teams were technically scheduled practices. Some coaches that found their own time and field space did what they could. All new teams are starting back up this week and next. And yes, a lot teams are scheduled to play in tournaments in the next few weeks.

All the above is true. However, if your kid's desire is to play college soccer, it doesn't hurt for the kid to be on this list. Remember, when a college coach is recruiting, the coach gets 1000s emails. What will your kids soccer "resume" look like by u15 to set him/her apart? Many coaches are looking for additional information to assist w/ the decision making. Other factors that can build the soccer resume such as national team camp invites, NTC, ODP, statistics, playing multiple positions, left footed, coach recommendation, that college's summer camp attendance, Top 150 ranking, DA Player of the Week, Showcase Top 11, video, consistent and personal correspondence to the coach, etc. If others can think of more, your welcome to add.... One or several of these may give your kid a little more credibility when the coach comes to watch. And, let's say your kid has a bad game. The coach may think, "That kid has gone to 2 NTC's and is ranked 75th, so maybe I should give him/her a second look tomorrow." You never know what item may give your kid that extra push. I have no idea what goes into the ranking but I would agree with all of this. Also, I imagine it gets more accurate the older you get. The new rankings for class of 2024 are probably a lot of parent submission stuff. But eventually national team camps, best 11 at showcases, and other awards/recognition will add validity.

Good Riddance. Josh was a verbally abusive jerk. SSA is a better club without him. Also vindictive. An academy Player left him to go to another club. Player's Older sibling also left SSA to go to different club than younger sibling. Josh told tryout club of older sibling that player was not a good player and planted negative impression. I would have to disagree with this. I know a few players over the years that have wanted to leave SSA and he has made calls and helped them land on good teams at other clubs. Even sending them to his direct competitors. He has taken several back after short stints at other clubs didn't work out. Josh is an outstanding coach and has single handedly built the girls program at SSA. He is more passionate and dedicated to his teams than any other coach for sure at SSA and likely at most clubs. Is he perfect? No. Do you need a thick skin? Yes. He is a love him or hate him coach. But I would guess 95% of his players would give anything to keep him. His teams are dedicated. He hasn't lost many players over the years, even when SSA had no leagues to offer them.

Not exactly powerhouse clubs in Georgia. Kids team didn't lose a game to any of the 3 clubs over last two years. Definitely a bit surprising. I guess they were two of the bigger/biggest technically “unclaimed” clubs at this point, though. I’ll be interested to see how this plays out for SSA and LSA I'm guessing it is because SSA now has a USL team and LSA has a NPSL team. Both claiming a path to pro. That's all I can think. And they had not been picked up by ECNL.

Justadad--LOVE the good discussion! I recalled and just found another thread where Footyfan listed the top 40 clubs which were not in ECNL. Of the top 40, 11 are GAL (See Below) and almost all of the rest in ECNL. (I didn't count the 2 Texas clubs on your list as they have not announced GAL--which I think signals perhaps something else is in the works.) Further, only 5 clubs in the top 20. ECNL is clearly much more deep in the top tier which then bleeds into the mid tier. Again, that's a big issue for level of competition and colleges deciding where to spend their dollars to recruit. 1. Top Hat (GA) 8. Legends (CA) 9. Beach (CA) 10. Earthquakes (CA) 16. FC Virginia (VA) 25. NEFC (MA) 26. Sporting Blue Valley (KS) 28. Cincinnati Development Academy (OH) 32.South Shore Select (MA) 35. LA Galaxy 37. Nationals (MI) The GAL has not yet announced the conference that the Texas clubs are in yet so your list may be premature, but a great post otherwise. Once the frontier conference is announced it will be interesting to lay it all out and see who is in which league (ECNL, GAL, or other). Regardless I think even 11 of the top 40 makes GAL a legitimate league. ECNL will have more depth IMO but I think some of that will be conference based. Great discussion and info! And I guess it still isn't clear if Legends and Beach are putting their top teams in GAL or ECRL. I think it was previously stated top teams would be ECRL.
