Would be strange if concorde and ssa were boycotting each other...considering they created an alliance that has SSA using some of CF's ECNL spots. I don't think Concorde and SSA are boycotting each other. Their tournaments are on the same weekend so I am sure both clubs are for the most part attending their own tournament. There are some friendlies scheduled between the two clubs in August.

ECNL Conference alignment was just published for 2018-2019. I count 94 teams from 89 separate clubs. Nearly enough to move to pro/rel! If my counting is accurate 5 clubs got two teams each for this coming season, including Concorde. Concorde named their teams Platinum and Premier. Not as bad as Michigan Hawks naming their teams Hawks and Hawks Black but not as good as Eclipse Select naming their teams Solar and Lunar. The other piece of shocking news is that San Diego Surf is not in the list. I went to their webpage and they prominently display their ECNL logo next to their DA logo, and have ECNL teams listed, coaches and managers listed, and already had tryouts. So I went to the SoCal Forum (they are not nearly as polite as us!) and this does not seem to be an inadvertent omission. Apparently they named the teams and had tryouts knowing ECNL was not a done deal. Or ECNL told them without warning they were out. That seems unlikely, but I am done assuming anything when it comes to youth soccer these days. They were a club with both GDA and ECNL. Same GDA conference that LAFC Slammers just left. SD Surf were not great in ECNL last season (3rd, 5th, 2nd, 8th, 7th) but they were not terrible. A bit better than Concorde in a better conference. Anyway, tough for those players who thought they were signing up for a league but apparently don't have that option now. Interesting. Does anyone know how many clubs continue to have both GDA and ECNL?

For those teams that do "team travel", can you share how it works?
Do you book 4 players to a room plus 2 rooms for chaperones and 1 for coach? Do you divide ALL rooms by ALL players? Does the TM collect a large travel fee up front and pay for all rooms on the team card? How much is enough to collect up front? Are chaperones rooms paid for? How many chaperones per event? Do you rotate chaperones? Is it required to chaperone something throughout the year? Are players REQUIRED to stay with team or at least cover their share regardless? If additional parents want to attend, they need to book their own rooms?
Anything I am missing?

So, this is why I posted this thread. Even parents at CF and SSA are confused about this. While the 05 and 06 parents were supposedly repeatedly "told this before, during and after tryouts" why does no one else know and why has it not been made public with an announcement by either club?? If parents at SSA in other age groups are not aware and there has been no announcement, why?? This is very weird to me. SSA should have told their entire club with an email or announcement!! What if you have a kid playing on 06 at another branch who is good enough to play ECNL at 05 or 06 but you did not know this was an option? What if you are an 05 that is playing up on an 04 team at another branch and you would have loved to play 05 ECNL? This should have been made CLEAR and OFFICIAL to ALL SSA and CF parents if this situation is actually fact. As it stands it seems shady to me. First, I think the premise about entire ‘05 and ‘06 SSA teams getting an entire ECNL slot from CF is false. And also, if your kid is good, you have always had the opportunity to try out at a club with ECNL. I have no idea what the powers that be agreed on or didn't agree on or why the announcements have been limited at best. I agree with oraclesfriend on that front for sure. I don't claim to be in the know. The original post asked for an SSA parent perspective. I answered with that perspective. This is what the 05 and 06 SSA girls age groups were told. That's all I know. It sounds like msundrcvr is at Concorde and he/she seems to be under the same assumption. I do feel that any 05 or 06 girl that attended club wide SSA tryouts was aware though. Players from all locations have always had a chance to tryout for the top team at SSA. They start mixing locations and creating an elite pool at U11.

SSA 05 and 06 Girls 1st - ECNL only 2nd - NPL 3rd - SCCL 4th on - Athena
The teams playing ECNL will be utilizing one of Concorde's two spots. What this looks like is still to be determined. Do they wear Concorde uniforms??? Do they even have a Concorde name??? But it will be the complete SSA teams with their own coaches and practice locations. Run entirely separate from Concorde. No mixing of girls from Concorde.
This is what was conveyed to the players and parents in the SSA 05 and 06 girls age groups. Repeatedly before, during, and after tryouts.
Infoguy is correct that there really isn't anything official laid out for the boys and girls in other age groups other than "a pathway for players" so far.
SSA 04 and Older Girls 1st - NPL 2nd - SCCL 3rd on - Athena
SSA 05, 06, and 07 Boys 1st - SSA DA 2nd - NPL 3rd - SCCL 4th on - Classic
SSA 04 and Older Boys 1st - NPL 2nd - SCCL 3rd on - Classic

Thanks!! So I heard that GA Soccer had told a team that they were thru by wildcard, but when they showed up to the meeting, they were not on the list. So they caller USYS and it turned out GA Soccer messed up and they were not in and they had to leave meeting. They then had to call their coach so he can let his team know they were not in after all. I dont know what team it was. That’s awful...money saver, but awful to be “jerked” around (even unintentionally) in that way. Wonder if it was NTH Tophat 01G Navy SRPL (U17). May be completely off here, but they are not on the schedule for regionals and I thought (though again I may be wrong in thinking it) they were told at their State Cup Finalist awards ceremony that they got a “wild card” spot?!? I think it was a GSA 05 boys team. Something about being runner up in SRPL league play but since the winner, Mt. Pleasant SC, also won the SC State Cup spot, they were either told by someone high up or somehow thought they would get the back up spot. They were not champions or finalists in GA State Cup though.

It is my understanding that SSA 05 and 06 girls were told they will be playing ecnl next year utilizing one of Concordes 2 ecnl spots. It would not be a change to SSA’s league status if this is under Concorde’s name. It is an “alliance”. I am still wondering if this U13 and U14 two ECNL teams is true. Originally it was stated U15 and up had two teams but not U13 and U14...that was before the alliance, so did ECNL change their minds when they heard about SSA alliance? True. I have not seen anything public from any clubs announcing such. I did also hear that at the Tophat 06 tryouts they were telling the 2nd team girls that they would have 2 encl slots at that youngest age next year too though.

I think how this alliance affects younger boys, older boys, and older girls is yet to be seen and I am sure it will evolve over time. But what I have heard so far is that starting with the 2005 and 2006 girls (and every subsequent year after coming out of academy), SSA's elite girls teams will participate in ECNL utilizing one of Concorde's 2 spots.

I would expect the boys to try and add 3 more teams in the NPL West Division. Two divisions of 8 would allow 14 games per season playing home and away. Seems like this would be put in place by now given how close we are to tryouts. We were told for NPL you would play everyone in your division home and away. PLUS everyone in the other division once either home OR away. So 16 games total. All in the Fall for 03 and up that are in high school in the Spring.

Or, how they hand out jerseys to their players on the field before each game and then collect the jerseys back after the game. Yep, not shady at all.🙄 Played in a tournament against them and they had 3 #34’s on their team 😆 Their older boys do the handing out a box of jerseys too. In our game one received a red card. The ref went to write the jersey number down but that jersey number wasn't even on the roster. Asked the kid his name and he wasn't even on the roster. No one did anything about it. The refjust picked a name to assign the red card. It was a joke.

SSA does this. At U11, they create an Elite pool of 20-25 players. There are tryouts for this pool but players can continually be added throughout the year. They practice together twice a month and select rosters for big tournaments from this pool. At U12, the elite pool trains full time together. It is still a large pool though. If you do not make the top roster in a given week, you can go back and play with your location's top team. The roster fluctuates a fair amount so that everyone in the pool is given a chance to play with the top team. It seems to work very well. It helps the players from multiple sites build relationships and chemistry before they go into select together. It also seems to foster great healthy competition because nobody is guaranteed their top team spot week to week.

Girls top teams from North have always been good at academy ages also. This year their top U12 team played in U13 Athena B and won it and when promoted to Athena A they did really well there too. Did really well in Athena A doesn’t really sell it. They dominated and finished tied for first (second based off point differential). So essentially the best 13U team in Ga Soccer is a 12U team that’s only spring lose was a game at AFU where their coach was “red carded” and thrown out so there’s gotta be a story there. Though I hope CFNorth still implodes because I hated CF as a player 😏 Minus the four U13 teams that played RPL in the Spring and the four U13 teams that played ECNL all year. But yes, they did do really well.

Here is my point. Santos is 1st so they should go in. Next is CF U12 so they won't because that team will either play in their age group or most likely get split up as some go to CF u13 ECNL, some to AFU and GSA and maybe UFA so they have chance at DA the following year. Next (3rd) is Tophat who moves to SCCL. Next is AFC Lightning who should likely go up. Previously they promoted 4 Georgia teams to RPL and then your play dictated whether you went up to Premier division or stayed first or get dropped. Most uears between RPL and SRPL there would be 6 Georgia teams. Since 3 teams left for NPL/SCCL out of the 4 in RPL in Spring they need to fill in those gaps. So if they even replace those three with the next 3 it will be Santos, then AFC, then MAYSA. If they decide they need one more it will be AFU. There will be only Premier Division for girls. So: From NC: NCFC Charlotte CSA Greensboro United North Carolina FC From SC: South Carolina Mt Pleasant Discoveries Bulls Elite CESA (maybe but they may go SCCL since they were dead last) From GA: Lanier - returns Roswell promoted If 10 team division then that’s it. If 12 team division then you might get AFC and MAYSA. Realize NCFC girls will have both ECNL and DA (I believe they are part of NC Courage) next year. CSA girls will have DA and also NPL now. Mount Pleasant has NPL. And CESA has ECNL and SCCL. So if those "clubs" are still awarded it, it will be their lower teams. As many have said, Old Athena A becomes RPL, old Athena B becomes Athena A...

All I want to know is when will TH play the infamous SSA team? They silenced CF at disney but they haven't squared off with TH to officially claim the #1 spot in GA. I will bring the popcorn. Im bummed that this may never come to fruition, as the team will breakup (according to the blogs) before this ever happens.😓 They played 4 times last Spring (a year ago). SSA won two, tied one, and lost one. All 1 goal games. So that would be a good match for sure. But you are right, it does not appear a rematch will happen any time soon. Not so much because the blogs say this team is breaking up, but because there are now 5 different leagues to play in in Georgia alone. Tophat's top teams won't even play Concorde's top teams anymore. Assuming it is true that Concorde gave up GDA but Tophat did not.

Why does this forum care so much about this SSA 05 Girls team? I believe the original thread was to share information from the SSA town hall meeting. Which involves much more than just the 05 girls team.
Yes, this girls team is very good. They are having fun while competing in a sport they love. Isn't that the goal??? They are a combination of skill, athleticism, grit, and most of all heart. They have been coached to play good soccer as a team, not as individuals. These girls even put together their own basketball team JUST FOR FUN. They went undefeated and won that 16U league. They have a good thing going. You don't have to look any further than this forum to realize the grass is not always greener on the other side. Or that putting together a dream team on paper does not always equate to a winning team. It has been said multiple times that they are hoping to stay together next year. Can anyone promise their team is staying together? No. But why should anyone outside of this team care what they do?
Why can't we just congratulate them on their success instead of criticizing their style of play? Whatever they are doing seems to be working. If everyone played the same style of soccer there would be a lot of boring games.

Seems like this rule should not be effective until the full 2018-2019 season. GA Soccer happily already took all of our money this year. When you registered you were still under the impression it meant something. Spots to Regionals, Premier SRPL, and National League were already earned this year.

Some teams in NPL were stronger than RPL, for 01B - we played in both leagues as well as a couple of other teams. And one team in particular played NPL but were in a higher RPL Division. It’ll be good. Agree. Boys NPL 03B was quite strong. We played RPL 1st division and NPL gave us the opportunity to play several RPL Premier teams. Including the defending USYS national champions.

I have not seen anything related to Georgia Soccer's new ruling regarding ODP yet. Does anyone know if those clubs that participate in non sanctioned leagues or individual players that participate in non sanctioned leagues will still be able to play ODP and be considered for region pool?
Yes I already know that DA players cannot play ODP. And yes I realize there is significant drop off as players get older. Not here to debate the ODP program. But current ODP players are being asked to spend $800 for region camps this summer. If they will not be able to participate next year, it's certainly not worth that money. It would be downright criminal to not know that going into it.

Correct also. We are a couple years away from ECNL clubs fielding 2 ecnl teams per age group at all ages. Composite teams........I was right in November about the new league coming (SCCL), I was right about clubs having to choose between DA and ECNL. And I will be right about 2 ecnl teams per age group 2 teams per age group? A and B divisions? Given the current war between USSF, USYS, and US Club, this seems prime for US Club Soccer jump on the opportunity to draw more clubs in and have ECNL be a top division and NPL be a 2nd division with promotion/relegation between. Maybe even these new Premier Leagues or Champions Leagues would be a 3rd division. They already have a large network of clubs that have one or more of these leagues. That way ECNL will be able to claim the strongest TEAMS are playing and not just CLUBS that were awarded it. Better for scouts, better for competition, gives teams a pathway to earn something...

Of course he is gleeful, he is part of the charge coming from the other side. Now whatever club he is from has a better chance of winnng State Cup. Tomorrow there is Town Hall meeting of all the clubs. Some DOCs have expressed their opinion that the big 5 shouldn't be there to avoid issues. One DOC even went as far as to give them the wrong time of the meeting. Shouldn't they all meet to figure this out? At the end of the day, thr big 5 didn't pull out of GA Soccer, they were kicked out of RPL because they didn't invite some clubs to join their new league and their feelings were hurt. If the intention of the big 5 was to destroy GA Soccer they would have invited everyone to join. I have heard that US soccer and US Club are working together to squash this, but who knows. US Socer claims that you cannot tell a club that they can only play with one league...yet they do lol. It will be interesting to see what happens when all the dust settles. The kids are the only losers in this. I don't want to personally attack anyone but there are some true hypocrites in this whole mess If you look at the teams registered for this year's State Cup, an extremely limited number will actually even be able to play next year under these rules. Only four of the 15 teams in the U13 Girls division aren't associated with an external league. I guess they all get to go to RPL next year.

I have to say you sound almost gleeful about this state of affairs. This has been evident in a number of posts. I particularly enjoyed the post indicating that US Soccer has issues with US Club, and helped the State association as a result. For the sake of argument, Perhaps it is US Club, and their constituents, who should have an issue with US Soccer. Perhaps all of us really might view State and Regional associations as having been asleep at the wheel for years, thus the situation we find today. Just as a hypothesis. Are other states using this same strategy? if so, which ones? If it is all of them, this is a sad day. So this position on the part of Georgia Soccer would seem to further compartmentalize soccer teams in Georgia. It is antithetical to creating an organized hierarchical structure that parents and players can understand. You do realize that the only other organization who is taking the position (in most instances) that the teams in their leagues can't play teams in other leagues, or even participate in other leagues, is US Soccer. You do realize that US Soccer could be perceived as a bit out of touch. This strategy might reveal the antiquated nature of State Associations. There is a great Leonardo Da Vinci quote that applies in situations where those trying to maintain power via strong-arm tactics in the face of challenges: "He who amidst the struggle of opinions calls upon authority works with his memory rather than his reason." Of course, strong-arm tactics rare work for long. Finding common ground is usually the best answer in the long term. In this instance, finding common ground in the best interests of your constituents, who also happen to be paying parents who are trying to find the best options for their children. Of course he is gleeful, he is part of the charge coming from the other side. Now whatever club he is from has a better chance of winnng State Cup. You are wrong on both accounts: (1) SSA had older girls NL team this past fall. (2) SRPL has been incorporated into NL for Fall 2018 You are correct, didnt see them. They also finished dead last and are graduating this year. Their 05 girls would likely qualify for NL next Fall. Their 03 boys and 04 girls would qualify for Premier SRPL (or whatever the new name is) next year. Their 04 and 05 Boys DA teams have done quite well and would have to eventually funnel back into one of these higher leagues without DA status in the older age groups. Their 06, 05, 04, and 00 girls all won their NPL league and received bids to NPL Nationals this summer. So this decision does impact SSA substantially. Especially since they are the only one of the Big 5 without DA or ECNL. Will be interesting to see where they land.

Will South Carolina still allow the SC teams on the list to compete for RPL/NL? While it does appear that many states are following suit on the "Champions League" format, is Georgia Soccer the only one that has put their foot down so far? For example, USA MP 03 Boys are defending USYS National Champions. This year they played in NPL, SRPL Premier and NL. South carolina is for <= u12. Right but the rule states if the CLUB participates in any non sanctioned leagues. So then the entire club will be impacted.

Forgive me if this sounds ignorant. But GA Soccer does not run National League or RPL, does it? They are a member of it. Georgia Soccer said they "place" teams in those leagues to "represent Georgia". Can't National League choose to accept whoever they want if someone else applied? Wouldn't they rather a stronger team with a proven track record over what GA soccer is going to be able to "place" given the clubs they have left to work with? I guess I don't really know how it works. But there are teams in South Carolina playing NPL, Premier RPL, and National League all at the same time this year. The way I understand this they would still be able to do this just because their state isn't in the middle of an all out war. It just seems like maybe USYS has some pull over Georgia Soccer here.
