CF apparently said NTH stole their players. You mean like snuck in the middle of the night, clubbed them over their head and took them against their will?
Its laughable

Hahah....I have my sources 😉 I posted that on here several days ago but took it down after thinking about it. Apparently CF is upset they lost coaches and players to NTH during tryouts and told their teams not to participate in the NTH tournament. But it's about the kids supposedly and not people's egos...

Now or Never? I am thinking the Athletics administrators are so blind to this staff's shortcomings that it might not matter what the team does this year because there are essentially no impact Juniors and Seniors. How could a staff be expected to succeed under such conditions? Of course, no one holds the staff responsible for the fact that they are responsible for this state of affairs. Let's point out the current head coach has presided over the worst 3 year run in the history of UGA soccer. And his first a little above average year was with Holeman's player who had been coached by Holeman's staff. Shultis has had a precipitous drop-off. I remember her being pretty solid in her first year. For all the wealth of talent in GA UGA underachieves every year, they have good talent so where does the problem lie?

Your assumption is correct. SSA hosts this pre season tournament every year and teams are required to play in it. There is no "bad blood" (at least from a parents' perspective) between CF and SSA. No need to read into the tournament participation. I heard the bad blood was CF & NASA You win Final Jeopardy!!

I've never in all my years seen a game as addicting and social as Fortnite. hear is the schedule: wake up watch youtube fortnite eat breakfast while watching youtube fortnite go to school and talk about fortnite come home from school and watch youtube fortnite go to soccer talk about fortnite at soccer come home from soccer and eat dinner while watching youtube fortnite do homework play fortnite go to sleep while watching youtube fortnite 1. If kids are consuming that much Fortnite that's a problem, unfortunately the above example is more common than you think. 2. Young counterparts in other countries are playing pickup until dark in the streets, futsal courts and even barren dirt pitches. Forget all the mandates, directives, alphabet leagues, etc this is the biggest reason why we are 20+ years behind everyone else.

Ask any boy 10-17, I would guess 70%+ or more spend more time playing Fortnite, FIFA or Madden then they do practicing soccer on their own.
Therein lies one of the biggest roadblocks

MLS rule is 89 degrees for mandatory water breaks, FIFA was ordered via court order to give water breaks in Brazil during the 2014 WC at 90 degrees plus. This is inadequate for children. Georgia High schools are required to give water breaks to adolescents if wet bulb globe temperature exceeds 82 degrees (with the humidity this weekend that was a given by about noon). If high school age kids are required to have breaks and they sweat like adults why should 7-10 year olds not get a break. That's US Soccer's guideline as well- 89 degrees

I thought it was 85 degrees mandatory although I may wrong. Sounds like someone made a gross incorrect decision. Mudcreek had water breaks for all midday and evening games.

Glad two clubs are on good terms before the season, unlike some others and the season hasn't even started yet. ☹ HAHA - Coach, that's crazy talk! All of the clubs get along just fine....it's those pesky parents that start all of the trouble . It's not crazy talk, two Alliance members are boycotting each other tournaments. Dig around if you want to know.

and why does it cost $700 per team to play in local tournaments like the SSA Summer Classic or the Concorde Fire Select Cup, that annoys me more than even the uniforms It pays for operating costs for the year, field upkeep, paying the admin staff and the DOC's probably get a cut of tournament revenue.

I have kids that have played at many clubs in Atlanta, AFU is no different than any of them. All clubs have problems, so please stop thinking your kool aid is better than the next. Of course they do but AFU tends to have exponentially more than others, coaches run off, promises to staff the that aren't keep, internal strife among others. I'm not saying this as on outsider, I'm saying this because I have personal relationships with former and current AFU coaches and they've told me a multitude of things over the years.

I told everyone who would listen a week ago Ronaldo wasn't going to play in the All Star game. Everyone that had All Star game tickets were trying to sell them on the Atlanta United FB page for 3x markup because they thought Ronaldo would be at MBS, I told everyone on the FB page to not pay 3 times face value because Ronaldo wasn't going to play. He's in China promoting his brand. Yep! Was screaming the same thing. No quality player that played in the WC is playing in any of these preseason games. That’s like saying Julio Jones is playing full games for the Falcons in preseason. He's played in three CL finals in a row plus Euro's and the World Cup, he's not going to play some meaningless friendlies when he needs a break. It was comical to see his face plastered all over billboards in Atlanta last week promoting the All Star game when he isn't even playing.

The stat that's been quoted is that Neymar has spent 15 total minutes on the floor this World Cup. yep - typo. 45 would be absurd, lol. In regards to the hockey and/or football WR analogy... in those sports, when a player gets his bell rung, they're often taken off for a bit. Can't do that in soccer. There are also natural stoppages in those sports (like the huddle for instance) whereas not so much in soccer. And since I'm playing the role of Neymar apologist... Through group stage (couldn't find addt'l stats), he was: Top 5 in Chances created Top 5 in Dribble completed Top 5 (#1) in Shots All of the above while being targeted in every game whenever he was near the ball and while spending 15min on the ground ;-) www.sbnation.com/soccer/2018/7/6/17541844/neymar-injuries-fake-rolling-world-cup-brazil-belgiumFor me the most dangerous player on the attack yesterday for Brazil was Marcelo.

I think he can still get DC 10-15 goals a season. He probably still has a few decent years in the tank, unlike Lampard, Gerrard and Pirlo who clearly came here for a retirement check.

In most of these countries that de-emphasize results and focus on development the common thread is the parents aren't driving the ship, the clubs and associations are footing the bill. Here in the US coaches and parents are complicit in the problem, we live in an immediate gratification society. Most parents aren't patient and won't allow a coach years to develop a team, if you aren't winning the better players will go elsewhere. Development and winning aren't mutually exclusive but you have to be allowed to fail before you can succeed.
