This seems an odd way to go about attempting to join a league.

Hmm...why is this not posted on the ECNL website or any of their social media outlets? My kids plays ECNL and we did not receive any communication about this. www.eliteclubsnationalleague.com/ecnl-national-playoffs-19-20/I had to look for it. It was under the "Competition" portion of their site, then look under "National Events."

LSA is moving forward with tryouts so if live in Gwinnett or hall county and want to try out for NL/SCCL on girls or MLS/SCCL on boys come out Week of June 1st- u9-u14 Week of June 8th- u15 to u19 This Spring has landed the soccer world in an unprecedented situation due to the pandemic. The safety of our players remains our top priority. While every player, coach and club is ready to be back on the fields, the reality is that we must continue to adhere to the guidelines of our local government and health officials. As such, for the time being, there are severe restrictions on how players can come and train at the fields. Due to these limitations, tryouts would not be an effective process to assess players and place them on teams. In collaboration Ambush, AFU, Concorde, Georgia Express, GSA, LSA, NTH, Steamers FC, SSA, TYSA and UFA, have all made the difficult decision to cancel in-person, formal tryouts. Have seen this a number of places. I am curious if the above paragraph is correct.

You have probably all heard-the SEC officially cancelled (not suspended or postponed) all Winter and Spring Sports at this point. While I have not heard, it is doubtful this will be the only conference to do this.
While I hope my pessimism is wrong, I doubt high school sports will start back up. Our local middle school conference has already cancelled the rest of their track, baseball, and soccer seasons. GHSA has said the regular seasons belong to the schools. How many schools are going to want to crank everything back up? What if some schools want to start again, and some don’t? I know we can do “what ifs” forever.....

With the CDC just coming out that we shouldnt have groups of more than 50 until May, I think high school spring sports just like colleges are done. Hope Im wrong. Just one opinion: My bet is HS sports are done for this Spring. Maybe I am wrong, however I don't think the schools and GHSA want to be accused of inactivity. Not making a decision is essentially making a decision. Maybe this is all alarmist activity. Maybe this is all unnecessary. Maybe we will look back on all this and wonder why there was this terrible panic. If we encounter the numbers Italy has, we are in a heap of trouble. If we don't, all these measures will appear to be too much. The key is for us to act in a calm manner, and make some wise decisions. The price of leadership is being required to make difficult decisions, even when those decisions are not popular. Personally, I am glad I don't have to make a ton of decisions impacting a lot of people during this situation. Hope you all are healthy, and stay healthy, during this situation.

Maybe. Zlatan was back at a very high level pretty quickly. Lots of factors come into place in regards to the recovery time. Martinez is certainly out for a lengthy amount of time. I see lots of people saying someone from Europe or South America should be added to the roster. That might be tough to do, due to the limitations in transfer markets and such. Freely admitting I don't know the ins and outs of all that.....just hoping Martinez can recover to be his old self by early next season.
As soon as he went down Saturday night, we had our suspicions it might be his ACL.
My daughter tore hers last Spring. Unfortunately, we are getting pretty good at spotting this injury now on other players. Wish we had not learned this new skill.

Looks pretty unorganized and all over the place if there isn't an official place to visit, especially if every school isn't obligated to use one specifically to update. Is there a site that updates JV anywhere? It is unorganized.. After all, it's just soccer. I can only speak for our school teams: if I did not report soccer scores they would not be reported, and I am simply a parent. Football, basketball, baseball, softball don't have that same situation in our school. We are a small school system, with no soccer culture to speak of, so the level of soccer IQ, or interest, is not very high. My situation is no different from that in a lot of smaller towns. Georgia Public Broadcasting has an app that reports specifically for football. There may be one for other sports, however I have never found one for soccer. The reality is that in our state, football is king. There is great interest in basketball and baseball, and then other sports fall in line. Certainly there are local papers, and coaches, that do a good job of promoting all sports, and the AJC does a decent job of doing the same. Our local paper ran a great story about our football awards ceremony, and provided a good rundown of basketball games. There is a good season preview of baseball, however nothing about soccer or track. Admittedly, our soccer programs are nothing special, however our high school has a couple of state title contenders in various track events.

A question that requires a great deal of conjecture:
Think he was not considered because of the outcry over the nepotism accusations before, or is the "negative culture" cloud the reason, or is he simply not qualified overall?

I agree, that it would be a great thing if pretty much every facility had AEDs on hand. I would think local clubs could reach out to medical facilities in the area, and might get them donated. Put these in a handy location, mounted, outside of buildings, and at least shows they are trying to be proactive. Any facility with a concession stand could have these available. Many AEDs are "stupid proof" and anyone with any sense can follow the directions, however it would also be pretty amazing if clubs took the initiative to require coaches to be trained as well.

The foul for the PK was ridiculous. When teammates of the player committing the foul fuss at him instead of the ref, you know it is an obvious foul.

Probably more of a statement that its an obstacle to having a simplified system. The states would need to understand its an obstacle to the betterment of American soccer also. While true, what would be the motivation for the high school associations to change things specifically to assist one sport? I think it would be wonderful, however I highly doubt this will ever be the case.

rifle The other problem is the issue of the high school season. It is not at a fixed time across the country. This means the teams are playing each other on club schedules when maybe they aren't at their best. I think that part of the fix for youth soccer would be to make the states all have high school season at the same time. If they did this it would allow for more sensible travel (Georgia ECNL teams could play clubs 3-6 hours away rather than 6-12 hours away). It would help at least... What is your plan to get independent state high school federations all on the same schedule?

Yeah, the offside havent affected our games, but you can be pretty sure one set of parents is in perfect position to see/make the call every time it's called. Whether they understand the law completely is a different story. While true on the positioning, looking in the right place at the right time when the ball is last played by an attacker takes a lot of discipline. Most coaches/parents are looking at the ball. Most coaches/players are not looking at the positioning of the defenders. Some (unfortunately) ARs are not in the correct position or are not looking at the position of defenders at the right time. I have been a ref a very long time. At this point, I have pretty much heard it all from coaches/parents during games. I have been in absolutely perfect position, and been told by some parent 60 yards down the line that I need to get in position, and remember that we judge offside at the moment the ball is last played by an attacker. Yes, I know that. I have also been wrong. I have missed some. I have been "that guy" working my 5th game in a day because the assigner is desperate to find a warm body to fill a slot because somebody failed to show up. It is not OK that I have missed some over the years, unfortunately it is simply the truth. As a ref, when my kids play, what I hope to see from refs working our games, is officials working hard. If they are trying hard, I can personally deal with a missed call or two. It happens. What I have a difficult time with is seeing refs failing to try very hard. Failing to work hard in a match is not excusable. Just one perspective.

I am curious what solutions are out there to eliminate the Pay to Play model. I don't think "make it free" is a viable answer. Somebody somewhere has to pay for fields, coaches, officials, uniforms, insurance....

I would think they would look better if Pulisic and Tyler Adams were playing today. That said, those guys would not have altered the 1st goal. That was all on Zach Steffen.
Against Jamaica and Venezuela, the US squad has not been able to break down organized defenses, and have shown a tendency to give the ball away all over the field.
Were I the coach of Guyana, T&T, and Panama, I would press high in numbers. When the US is attacking, I would get 11 behind the ball, and stay organized. Guyana may not have the talent to do that, however I think T&T and Panama can certainly execute that game plan.
I simply do not know enough about Berhalter to have an opinion, however, only so much of this is his fault. He certainly did not instruct Steffen to pass the ball directly to an opponent. He definitely does not coach the players to pass to the other team.
It is my hope the US can gain some confidence quickly, or they will not get out of their group during the Gold Cup.

Actually I think Top Hat is the best club in Georgia. Last year LSA had one of the top non ECNL teams in Georgia. Before State Cup last year their team was dismantled by tophat so they were not able to compete at State Cup. The team made the National League but parents On the team said the top 4 kids were skimmed off to play ECNL and the team broke down. And i also hate to hear myself talk. So one more strike and you are out! One girl went to Tophat as soon as they finished the season (maybe before??) 2 of those top 4 players from LSA 03 went to UFA Norcross, not Tophat. Another player quit playing club soccer this year. That poor LSA team did get dismantled and it was started by the initial defection to Tophat but it wasn't solely to Tophat. They lost several players who were starters. One player left for Tophat ECNL for the Spring 2018 season. One player decided she no longer wished to play club soccer. Two players left for UFA Norcross, and played SCCL. Two players left for GSA ECNL. Tophat did not "dismantle" the squad so they could not play in State Cup. The team did not play State Cup 2018 because some players were not available.

To me that’s insulting. GSA should be trying to find good players and not using the camp as a way to make some extra coin. We lived in another state, and our local club charged a small fee ($10 I think) for tryouts. Just curious what your thoughts are about that procedure? I am neither for or against charging a bit for both the tryouts and/or the ID camps. I can see both sides.

7A Was a football driven decision that has put too much stress on travel because of isolation. Look at the schools in south Georgia that are 7A region 1. Camden County to Lowndes County 2 hours 26 min. by car not by cheese wagon Camden County to Tift County 2 hour 20 min. Camden County to Colquitt County 2 hours and 57 min. The switch took away some big natural sports rivalries. Valdosta vs Lowndes to name one. Coffee vs. Tift. Think of some of the other sports that this travel has put a strain on. Below is a link to the High School enrollment numbers that they built the classifications and regions with not counting. Soccer for 'A' public and "A' private were done differently. www.ghsa.net/sites/default/files/documents/executive-committee/Classes_with_Regions_for_2015-17.pdfI am not debating the merits of your argument regarding distance for many schools. Saying that, Lowndes and Valdosta can play anytime they please. They are in the same county after all. Perhaps you simply mean for region competition this change has been rough. Camden is a long way from pretty much anywhere!

GHSA playoff region matchups are pre-determined. For example: Region 6 and Region 8 matchup this year. Then 1 hosts 4, 2 hosts 3, in both regions. That is this year. Next year there is a different matchup first round.
It is that way in football, basketball, soccer, baseball, .......
I am sure somewhere on the GHSA website there is something indicating which regions play which regions which rounds.

Anyone happen to know what the tie breaker rules for playoff seedings are? Our region is a great hot mess of mediocre so quite a few games where teams win at home but lose when they play again away. Away games at schools have really proven to have very biased refs, quite shocking. Even worse then going to other clubs fields for games. So then would it not be true that all home games also have “very biased refs?” For sure all region games are either home or away for somebody.

I also like the fields that have the line or box indicating where the parents should be on the sideline. IMO GA Soccer should mandate that at all fields. We played a tournament in the fall where the other team parents were literally standing on the touch line. The refs were all teenagers and despite asking the parents to back up, they didn't. It was dangerous for spectators & players, yet nothing was officially done about it. While we're on GA Soccer about this, let's also add that Parents from either teams should be on their respective sides on the sideline. I truly can't stand it when parents rove the entire sideline. It has lead to words being exchanged and almost come to fisticuffs at times. I believe the unofficial/official rule is you park your chair on the same side as your team's bench. We moved from another state where it is mandated that you sit across from your team. We have tried to encourage our teams to do that here in Georgia. In my opinion, this should be a GYSA rule.

They only use this to decide region games and playoffs. And non-region games between teams of the same classification. GHSA wants a winner in those circumstances as well.

Yep dealt with it like two weeks ago in a non region game. Seemed pointless and confusing but that’s expected for Georgia. Not sure why any game other then playoffs need to go to overtime or PKs. Oh the best part too, was that the coach can send any player to take a PK and not just one from the 11 on the field. We also had a game decided by Kicks From The Mark (since they’re not really PKs) about two weeks ago. Being a rule reader (not laws mind you since it’s not FIFA), I knew about the new ABBA process. We were tied after the first 5. Team A made their 6th. The PA announced “And now Team B will have two kicks”. We missed our first attempt and that was it. Refs, players, fans all just kind of sat there not knowing what to do. Only the home coach ran out on the field yelling that’s it. After a brief huddle the ref agreed and called the match. Many in the stands who didn’t know (can’t blame them too much for not knowing) were up in arms. “We’re supposed to get two!”. Weird ending but correct according to the rule. Still, nothing beats 2 man Braveheart as the most exciting way to end a game (Lacrosse). While the refs should know the rules, the announcer was the one that made the confusing announcement. Obviously the refs cannot address the crowd when the announcer makes his/her statements. If the officials heard the announcement, it would have benefited them to let the teams know the situation. Can't blame the fans really for being confused. The procedure is not all that difficult to understand, so there is no reason officials (that attended a training event where it was discussed) cannot understand and get it right. In reading the above post with the announcer, did Team A shoot first in round 6, or did Team B? I ask, because the pattern is supposed to continue after the first 5 kicks. 1.AB 2.BA 3.AB 4.BA 5.AB 6.BA and so on, and so on.

Geesh that list of commits for GSA and Atlanta Fire aren’t even schools I would allow my daughter to attend. She could simply go to better school on hope scholarship Well that's kind of rude. You don't know where anyone's kids on this forum are going. I hope your kid doesn't dissappoint you by picking any of those schools, or them picking her. Hey Max: What schools will you allow your daughter to attend? I am curious.
