3) Better options on the girls side. SSA, GSA, and AFC all apply each year. All three are vastly better on the girls side then even the most optimistic combination of players from this alliance. Are you saying the better option is on the girls. Side and these 3 clubs should apply each year in hopes of somebday being added, or are you saying you know for sure these 3 clubs do apply each year? If the second, how do you know this? Just curious.

What did the school coach say? How many ECNL matches do you have left to play this Spring? It could be that both coaches might be willing to give a little.
Saying that, I do know some high school coaches, regardless of sport, say if you cannot be at every practice, meeting, and game day breakfast, then we don't want you. I get that they want camaraderie. I get that they want to make sure the player is in tune with the school program and all that.
In our local middle school, a basketball player missed one practice for a very big dance recital. This was not sprung on the coach at the last minute, the player told the coach several weeks prior to the conflict. The coach made the player run essentially the entire practice next day as a punishment.
Some coaches might not want to deal with other kids missing for other, less valid, reasons.
Some coaches would listen to the proposal, and work with the player and family-recognizing the higher quality training opportunity afforded players at most clubs teams over most school programs. Our local high school and middle school soccer coaches essentially told our daughter as long as she was at games, it was fine for her to miss practices at the school for club practice. We live in a very soccer poor area, and these coaches had the sense to make this allowance. We have not taken them up on that, because that is not how we do things, and we have not had the conflicts others have had.

That 04 team at GSA is pretty good, currently second in their conference behind the Concorde Platinum by a small margin.
The 05 team from GSA is in 4th place in their conference.
What, if anything, do we take from these results?

Oraclesfriend:
Fixed it. I hate it when someone corrects someone else, yet the “corrector” is incorrect. In this case, that was me that needing correcting of my correction. Sorry.
I also did not know what the team at LSA had to do with this discussion. That part of this thread was quite confusing.

Like Lanier 03 folding last year and their best players going to TH Navy. I am curious where you got this information. There are a few issues with your statement: 1. The team did not fold. They moved to Piedmont League of NL. 2. 1 player moved to Tophat ECNL. Not a bunch. 3. Some other players moved to different clubs for a variety of reasons.

College coaches rarely come to a high school game. They do go to showcases. Kid played in Florida over Xmas. In 3 games, over 50 different coaches were at the games. Kid received 5 direct emails from coaches as a result. If you get invited by a mass email its probably for making money. Personal invites indicate genuine interest. I am curious the age of your child. Mine is a class of 2021, so the D1 & D2 schools are not supposed to contact her yet. How does one know if it is a direct email? At the showcases our team has attended, our team manager has passed out a pamphlet with player information. Thus, the coaches have our contact information. So, how do we know if the message from a coach is a mass message or not if it has my child’s name in the email? Maybe this is a dumb question.

Public record? I find this info less surprising in its detail than the other poster who knew the age and team the player was on... Filed in Federal court. I don't know how to link it. It reads like gossip and sour grapes. Like poster said above, coaching decisions are completely subjective and when you couple that with the great success of that age group, it seems like the coach subjectively made pretty good team choices. I am certainly no legal expert, how does one go about proving this? Short of some actual documents from the coach, isn’t everything involving this case heresay?

Hahaha wow this is hilarious! But as I believe Colquitt County and Lowndes are expected to meet in the 7A finals I’m sure there’s a lot of whining about playing on a Tuesday/Wednesday. But seriously what money hungry arse thought it was a good idea to move the games to Tuesday/Wednesday?? They’re High Schoolers so you know they’re expected to be in school actually learning. I mean I know they have to use every opportunity to sell tickets to that overpriced eye sore downtown but the games could have been moved to Fifth Third, Ga State, Bobby Dodd, heck even Suntrust hosted football a few weeks ago for KSU and played that weekend. Two things: 1. This is the responsibility of the folks at GHSA, not the fault of the folks at the Benz. 2. You really think it is an “eye sore?” I think it is a pretty awesome structure. To each his own I guess.

I was not able to watch the game last night due to issues with the CONCAF site. Maybe it was on my end, I don’t know.
How did the US look? Obviously getting the win is important. How many of these guys will make the jump to the full national team soon, and help out that squad?

AU call

I hate watching the crap games at Yankee stadium, that field is crap, the sight lines are crap and the width of the field is crap. It leads to crap play and crap soccer. Did I mention it was all crap. Looks like a great sized field for an Under-12 match, yet certainly not for a professional playoff match with so much riding on it. The only thing that can be said is both sides must play on the same field.

AU call

Post by rocko1989 on Nov 6, 2018 18:31:10 GMT -5
One issue I had with the whole situation is with Atlanta's radio broadcast team. They seemed to have no idea what the call was. It was an easy official decision, made difficult by the AR not putting up his flag. With NY not placing someone on either post, it was incredibly easy to see Almiron move from the offside position to play the ball after passing it to Greisel.
Saying that, it would be VERY nice if somehow information related to the call was relayed to broadcasters from the officiating team. Maybe a sideline reporter can have a brief chat with the 4th and then relay that information so the crowd and viewers would know what is going on.
Ultimately, only the players and coaches really need to know. However it would be nice if the fans that pay for the players and coaches would also know what is going on.
Just one opinion.

A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in. If the keeper had not touched it, the result would have been a corner kick.

The reasonable thing is for the team that benefitted from this unfortunate occurrence to allow the other team to score unimpeded. Then get back to competitive play. Not a bad idea. How many teams do you think would do what you suggested? I was once an AR on a very competitive youth match. The ref awarded a VERY questionable PK. The coach of the team taking the kick called over his captain, and instructed him to kick the ball wide of the goal. The captain looked at the coach like he was crazy. The coach was emphatic, and said, “We are not going to win on some crap PK call. If we win, we better earn it.” The captain did as instructed. I think the coaches were friends, or at least had a healthy respect for one another. As a side note: that team later did score a pretty amazing goal and won 2-1.

I am guessing this is some small sided game/league.
The correct call is goal.
The smart thing to do is claim a head injury and get out of there before the inevitable chaos occurs after the ref declares it is a goal. Once he declares a goal, there is a high probability the players will vehemently express their disagreement, and then we get to see one of those videos where players chase a ref.

It appears this is a rule this school has. From reading the story, it sounds like the kid is just not quite good enough to make the team. There is no ultimate embarrassment in that. Not everyone that tries out makes the basketball team, not everyone that tries out makes the cheerleader squad, and not everyone that tries out becomes the Drum Major for the Marching Band. The coaches determined how many slots they have for the team, and this specific kid is not good enough.
The article said the school does not have the same policy for girls. Maybe, just maybe, it has never been an issue for girls. Maybe no junior that did not make the varsity of her chosen sport simply accepted the decision, and did not attempt to play JV. Maybe. I certainly do not know.
What I do know is this mother is not really doing her kid any favors. Will she sue when he does not get accepted to a college when he applies? Will she sue when he is not offered a job after he interviews?
Teach your kid the world is not always fair, we don’t always get what we want, find some other way to get his soccer fix, and move on with his life. Maybe he can be a team manager.
Most likely it is too late in the season to make an impact any way. If the judge decides in favor of the kid, do we really think the coaches will play him?
This is an absurd use of the court system in the Show Me State.

You may certain by correct about Will Johnson. I am not going to debate the overall quality of Rooney’s game at this point in his career. Saying that, his effort was pretty outstanding in this instance, and this play should be shown to youth players for the manner Rooney played.

In your plan, what do players do that have no club in their county? We have local rec. department, yet nothing else once the kids reach middle school. It is my suspicion we are not the only county in the state like this.
How many teams would Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Forsyth, and others have playing for that one club in their respective county? That would be some competition to be on the "top" team at an individual club.

Congrats to the Georgia Girl's teams for making the National Tier of the National League: 14 Girls: LSA 05 GOLD U15 Girls: Georgia Rush 04 U15 Girls: UFA 02 Premier I am clearly showing my ignorance with this question: what does this mean? Do these teams only play other teams in that tier for season games, or what exactly? Thanks for anyone who will explain all this.

I know this is not the point of the post or blog mentioned. What is an acceptable amount to pay? There will always be uniform, insurance, field and ref fees, and others costs as well. I feel like we will always have to pay something, so how much is too much?

Jones knows his family, and their situation, better than anyone else. When he played youth soccer, the culture was different. Maybe he is correct, or maybe his parents would have adjusted things to make it possible to play 60 miles away from his home. It is easy to say what we would do in a given situation until we are in that same situation.
Players can still be discovered if these players do not play at the highest levels. They can attend ID camps at colleges, can play ODP, which does get one the opportunity for being seen by other coaches. It is not as easy, yet it is possible, and players (and parents) must extend more effort.
Chuck-your scenario of a top pro/rel league is intriguing to me. What do you think it would take to implement something like you suggest?

This is a pretty strange story. Go withdraw funds after you are fired? ‘Cause nobody will suspect the one who JUST GOT FIRED. Maybe you feel the change is unmerited. Maybe you were actually done wrong. Saying that-man, what a stupid thing to do. I wonder if it was done out of emotion, like “I’ll show them.” Or I wonder if there was something more insidious going on. Regardless, it was not very smart at all.

Maybe depends on the situation. Is the current team too easy? Is the player challenged at training sessions with the current team? Does the player hope to continue developing and growing, and being pushed by players at a different level could enhance that?
I agree that riding the bench the whole time is awful, and not helpful. Being required to face challenges and learning to confront those head on could certainly be beneficial. In my opinion, this is all individual.
