The combined boys/girls thread was tough to follow... so how about a new thread just for the ladies?
Looking at early season results, it's hard to tell who is really good. Most of the top teams from last year have already dropped a game or two. Any insight out there?
Next Tuesday is Blessed Trinity vs. Westminster. That one should be fun, I assume.

The season is young and it’s harder to see scores due to Eurosport being bought. Blessed Trinity is not as good without THE Star. I think they have dropped at least one game.
Most of last years champions graduated many seniors.
I think 7A is wide open right now.

Of the teams I have seen: 1. Hillgrove - physical and scrappy 2. Pope - (although Walton easily won the JV game, haven't seen Walton Varsity) 3. North Paulding - D1 commits up top 4. North Cobb - dangerous striker 5 Riverwood 6. West Forsyth - down significantly from last year, but still quality - currently not gelled as a team
The rest (in no order): Allatoona - bleh, HC a football guy, assistant is terrible. right coach could make a good team. Marietta - no talent pool Kennesaw Mountain - a few solid players but no depth Woodstock - not good, better last year South Cobb - no talent pool
On the docket for later: Osborne - not expecting much Dunwoody - always interesting Harrison - can they pull it together

Yeah…River Phoenix has more life in him than Riverwood girls this year. A tough combination of an experienced keeper and 95% of every game being played in their defensive third.

I think I read where some one was having a hard time finding scores since Euro went away...it was replaced with this site...they are doing a way better job of tracking! Hope it helps. www.scorbord.com/states/ga

PiusX girls fell to Chamblee tonight. Both teams looked really sharp and game could’ve been closer, but Pius had several shots blocked by the cross bar and a couple amazing stops by Chamblee’s defense. PiusX parents had a great time trolling the Chamblee girls at the start of the game (yelling “where’s your trophy” and “cheaters” as they warmed up on the field). Surprisingly, this is the first school that has been so ugly. Strange, because Pius has plenty of legitimate violations that they wouldn’t want their neighbors to be dragging out into the daylight. The Chamblee girls were a little surprised by the animosity of the adults (many of which they know off the field) but they remained poised and unphased.

You might expect something like that from students, who love to “troll” and try to get attention/be funny, but that’s just low class from parents. In general, I’ve always thought that parents shouldn’t be talking to or about opposing players at games- especially if they’re yelling it loudly enough for everyone to hear.

My prediction for Region 6 in 7A (girls obviously):
Denmark Forsyth Central Milton West Forsyth South Forsyth Lambert
Don't count out Forsyth Central to win the region. Was surprised Milton beat West Forsyth on Friday, hence why I have them above West in my prediction. Denmark looked disjointed and lacked chemistry in their loss to Buford. But definitely a lot of talent on that team.

But definitely a lot of talent on that team. Not sold yet on Central. They’ve played one team with a winning record, whom they lost to. Milton should be a decent test this Friday. I think Denmark is the team to beat in the region. West and Lambert have completely gone the opposite direction of the last couple years. Not sure what’s going on there. South has a new coach who seems to be going with a lot of youth, but they can’t seem to score. They’ve scored all of one goal in the regular season, but have probably played the toughest schedule of any other team in the region. I know for a fact there is some talent in that team at D and mid, so maybe it’s just a chemistry thing.

I normally would have zero knowledge of or connection to any of those teams, but I happened to run into a friend yesterday that I haven't seen in years. When we started talking about kids, he mentioned his daughter plays for West Forsyth. He said their top 3 players were out with injuries when they lost 3-2 to Milton on Friday night, and the last Milton goal came after a BS back pass call (deflection somehow called a back pass) with 5 minutes left in a tie game. Their coach got his money's worth in getting a red card after the call. But that's the extent of my knowledge of any of these teams!

Denmark fell to Chamblee this week 5-0. Denmark Doesn’t look as sharp as they did last year. Alternatively, Buford girls were looking really good at the beginning of the season, it’s not surprising they beat Denmark.

Word on the street is that the AD at Denmark (a coach at GSA) has taken over coaching the team. Players and parents aren't happy. Hopefully it will come to a head before the season is ruined. I would think if this is the case then the coach is in a no-win situation being friends with the AD and, of course, the AD being the coach's boss. Making it worse is the AD's daughter is a freshman on the team.

AAAAAA Girls. Assuming bracket done correctly, I predict Lassiter, Marist, Cambridge and Pope in final four.

Thats awesome that we have 4 ga schools in the top 25, but hopefully some parent will stop spreading lies on Chamblee. Someone is in a dark closet combing thru the roster and stating lies but scared to show there face! Lets give credit to the girls that have worked hard on the field to make sure Chamblee is undefeated going into the playoffs.
