Now that we have had a few tournaments how are we finding this No Heading rule? Is it being enforced universally and are players managing to play without heading?

Thanks. Still have no clue. There was no GA Storm team last year in U16 or U17. Is this a Concorde South team that moved or something? Between the mandate and mergers and movement who knows what team is what this year? Most likely an old SSA team since Ga Storm has a location out in Villa Rica. Ga Storm is also the club that merged with KSA but I don't think they had any girls teams a that level. Has anyone figured out this tie in yet? GS are almost in Alabama and KSA are in Lilburn. Doesn't seem there is any synergy at all. Bruno and Bill don't seem like normal bedfellows either, going to be a very interesting season

As long as the coach lets the personnel dictate the shape vs the shape dictate the personnel. I think in a 4 back system, the outside backs are expected to get up and down the field and play as outside midfielders. On some of these narrow pitches, 4 in the back, ie or 4 flat across is overkill. Prefer a 3-4-1 with: 3 in the back with a true center back. 4 in the midfield with an attacking center mid and a defensive/holding center mid 1 striker to stretch the field. Your outside mids push up and and defend when necessary, and the outside backs can also push forward when their is space on their side and the center and week side back can shift a bit. As long s the mid 4 are not flat, your example is really a 3-1-2-1-1. the 2 really need to work hard in this formation, working box to box, so would need to be subbed a lot during the game. To be honest I like this formation, teaches teamwork with the need to drop in and support, is a set up that naturally gravitates to an 11 v 11 scenario and allows the players to get experience of different positions if coach works it well.

Doesn't 4-1-3 make for bypassing the midfield and playing straight to the front 3?

This is a yellow card for persistent infringement. Maybe that makes more sense here :-) Exactly accumulation of offences, I would have to assume that she has had her fair share of warnings and she just didn't get it, this was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back.

If this was a tournament and the qualifying started when these kids were U12 then it would continue as a U12 tournament until completion

Stupid pillow soft soccer federation... Suspended for being pissed and using WORDS. Sunil Gulati needs to GO!! See above, this isn't her first brush with controversy, she has had many indiscretions (Drunk driving anyone), and been suspended once before in 2008 if you remember. Put it another way would your boss let you get away with a hissy fit at work, I know mine wouldn't. Hope has had many chances and hasn't got the hint about actions and consequences so in this I am with US Soccer, cut your losses and break in a new keeper for next WC.

Dempsey says this and NOTHING happens. This is just US Soccer scapegoating and trying to embarrass someone who doesn't follow their idiotic imagine. Complete disrespect for the greatest women's keeper in US history. Well I guess that money she's going to lose until WWC qualifies can help pay for some of the men's new training jerseys... Too bad she loves the Us and Seattle loves her otherwise she'd probably go play in Europe where her on the field only matters. Sorry but she has had more bites of the cherry than anyone and hasn't yet learned to keep her calm, she criticized her coach in 2007 World Cup for not picking her, she has been charged with assault, she has been charged with DUI in a US Soccer van and the list goes on. This is basically accumulation of offenses.

You would assume it would be accessible via the web also, and not specifically just through an app. (not totally sure). No system is perfect and just like you don't see it being a big deal about bringing player cards, its not a big deal to explore modern methods of player cards and game scoring etc. Texas's youth teams have been using digital player cards as well. I don't think refs should be messing with phones during games for cards etc, but rather immediately enter it after the game etc. This all seems great, if it is going to be rolled out as a ref I would like to see it be a tandem system for a while so everyone can get used to it. It is hard enough marking cards, scores, goal scorers etc on game cards to give back to managers after the game, how do we share this with these same folks so we have no questions? I have made a mistake before and put the scores the wrong way round and this has been pointed out to me by a team manager so I was able to correct it immediately, not sure if this is possible with this new system. Also as has been pointed out what if there is no cell signal at the field, more common than a lot of people realize, do I now have to wait until I get home. What if it's raining, I am not getting my cell phone out to check player cards, will the team managers do this for us? In the winter I can write with gloves on, not sure in December I want to get out my cell phone and take off gloves etc just to tap a screen. Oh and how about running out of battery after a whole day at the fields with no power available and most refs keep their phones in the car as it is all too common for unsavory characters to steal from ref bags left on the side of the field I'm not trying to be obstructive but there are a lot of things that need to be ironed out before this is rolled out as a finished product.

USMNT need KM of GA Rush to be competitive What a strange post. I don't believe KM is eligible for US citizenship at this time. There are many other US players that could and should get the opportunity first in my opinion. Also he was only at GA Rush for 1 season, so it is very hard to claim he is a product of this organisation.

Rooney has played well in spurts in the mid but I think he gets in Alli's way more though. He's at a point that he can't play a full 90 or even half at the pace that needs to be played though. I'd love to see Vardy, Kane and Sturridge all play up top. And as a City guy, don't get me started on Sterling...... Kane and sterling will be dropped Monday. Sturridge and Wilshere to come in. Would rather see 4-4-2. What does vardy have to do to get a start? Please keep Wilshire as far away from the pitch as possible. He really provides nothing to the team and even when he came on against Russia all he could do was play negative and pass the ball to the Russians. There has to be a way for Woy to get Kane and Vardy on the field at the same time maybe a 4-4-2 with Ali on the left wing would work and Henderson or Lalana on the right.

From an afc standpoint, the u15 and u18 boys have a legit chance of winning. Ksa gonna take u14. For U14's think it will come down to Con Elite or KSA, I give the edge to Con Elite this year.I think game times will make a small difference, heat in the middle of the day in Columbus can be brutal

Side note...Is there a parking charge typically at Woodruff for the weekend?? First time going.
i don't believe so, but parking can get hectic. Be prepared to park on the grass Not been a charge in the past, there are 2 parking lots, one right at the Complex entrance and the other at the High School next door, as mentioned before be prepared to wait for a spot in the middle of the day it gets hectic. Enjoy it as much as you can, take a trip to downtown Columbus it really is nice down thee and it's away from the soccer.

The ideal place would have been the old GM plant in Doraville. I wish that Atlanta United had built a soccer-specific stadium and a training complex. It's on MARTA and accessible to both east and west sides of town. Alas, that's not going to happen. But as atlcoach84 said, traffic is horrible every day in Atlanta and I don't see any way it will be improved in the next 10 years. As has been mentioned before there is no ideal place, but Doraville is a horrible place to get to during rush hour, you can pretty much discount anyone west of 75 being able to get there before 7 PM

That really is the definition of endangering the safety of an opponent and should have been a straight red. De Jong has a known history for horrible tackles, remember the World Cup 2010 incident, the horror leg break for Man City against Newcastle and Stewart Holden leg break tackle. Hopefully the Galaxy will take their own punishment out on him if MLS won't

That offside call never would have been made in this state since we use the 2 ref system in high school. GA 1 - NC -0 Not all games are dual ref, region games are normally 3 man as are some regular season games if there is "history" between the teams and if the school requests a 3 man crew and there are available refs.

Are play in games typically associated with CL1 or Athena A teams vs RPL? Thanks, Normally yes. There are 16 teams from each age group that go to State Cup over the holiday weekend, if more than 16 apply then the playoffs happen. For instance if 20 teams apply then teams seeded 13 thru 20 will be involved in play off games with 13 v 20 14 v 19 15 v 18 16 v 17 The higher seed plays the lowest seed and so on. So unless 30 teams apply it is unusual for an RPL team to have to play in.

If you freeze it at the moment the ball is kicked, it's obviously onside. The main point is that the keeper should be charged with assault. This is no different in my opinion than the Hooch player who attacked the ref last year. Are you taking into account the angle that the video is being taken from? There is no definitive way you can say that the white player is on or off side, and yes a froze the video at the moment the ball was played and I can't hand on heart tell you she was on or off.

Without being in line with the 2nd to last defender how can anyone claim this can't be offside? For the absolute disgrace of what can only be considered a violent attack by the Goalkeeper, she should never be allowed to play High School soccer again.

It's getting worse for her and is looking like the statement she issued earlier was just a smokescreen. Very sad really as she was a shining example to younger players, now she is crashing back down to earth and will land with a big bump. www.bbc.com/sport/football/35976828The article is misleading. She admitted to doing drugs ten years ago not recently. We've had presidents admit to both and not be skewered this badly. That article is garbage journalism and the headline is more akin to the Enquirer than the BBC. Oh this just in. She's gay, too. Quick take your straight girls out of soccer lest Abby be the example for them all. (Sarcasm) Her athletic accomplishments stand. She's human. She made a mistake and now just because her name is associated with a very justifiable lawsuit, the media will dredge up any and everything to smear her name. If you read the article it does state that her admitted drug use was in her 20's, it also states it is standard practice for officers to ask about prior drug use. Not really sure why you seem to be taking this personally. The BBC doesn't even mention anything about the lawsuit.

Is this really for the kid or is it the parents bragging rights? Why don't we demand better from our current clubs?, it seems in reality all in metro Atlanta are all very similar for training etc and honestly mediocre at best. The only real attraction to ATL UTD is the assumed Professional set up, but this has yet to be seen.

Here is the obvious big problem --- once all this goes down I don't see any future collaboration occurring between DA and ECNL -- maybe in a sense this is a good thing, competition vs a monopoly and puts the consumer (our kids) back in control (the optimist in me speaking). I think most of us want our kids to play at the club that is convenient for our families - and if that club offers the highest possible soccer for your child that's a huge plus! I'm getting the sense the DAs affiliated with MLS clubs are gearing/thinking professional development and the non-mls DAs are gearing more towards college (my guess only). Preparing for college is the smart route and MLS academies need to take academics seriously. And you can't deny the success of what ECNL has accomplished with women's soccer and college. Its pretty remarkable. The goal of DA is for the elite player, but players peak at different ages etc. I can easily see players/families not making DA at u13 and then turning towards ECNL for boys and leaving their club and never looking back. Take the GA United Alliance clubs with no u16/u18s on the horizon if other clubs get ecnl for boys, I would see all these kids leaving the alliance clubs for boys ecnl to play at the perceived next highest level given state cup/rpl will become a location for 3rd teams…..Thats the disturbing reality, state cup past u14 will have be void of all its top players on both the boys and girls sides. If ecnl can offer attractable fees along with the high school carrot your looking at what could become the next big thing! Bigger than that galaxy 7 Hum, if ecnl really wanted to stick it to US soccer, they start boys next fall, and their clubs should all remain on the current school based age matrix……. Add some more clubs and you could have your own state cups, academy play etc from u8 and above. You thought captain America vs iron man was interesting, you thought superman vs batman was a war ---- you ain’t see nothing yet its ECNL vs US Soccer, who comes out the winner…… I'm not sure what round we are in, but this is definitely a heavyweight bout!! and if DA wants to remain restrictive and elite with the 2 year age bands, ecnl for boys and girls will thrive.. Good analysis I think. My only comment is in my opinion the MLS DA clubs/teams should be concentrating on keeping their players out of college as this is exactly where the US loses out. By age 16-18 is where the countries that are major players in soccer world are doing serious development and when US players are at college these guys overseas are playing professionally. A La Messi, Deli Alli, Ronaldo,,,,,, etc. Let's really get the DA doing its job correctly at least at the MLS clubs so we can have top class players for the US league and for the USMNT

Sorry for posting a new thread. Apparently it is hitting the fan all over the place (or several fans) I would be interested a cooresponding article about the number of college scholarships available for the men's and women's soccer players and if there is a disparity there. I would think more scholarships are available for women then men because of title 9 to offset football.. We already know that there are many more College Scholarships for women soccer players than men.

I am in a similar situation to both the guys above, I coached mainly lower level select teams and now ref also, although I do a number of Cl1/ Ath A games along wit CL III and Ath C etc. Spectator makes some good points also, the one thing I would say is everyone gets caught up in DI and DII schools. Is everyone aware that the ONLY difference between DI and DII schools is the number of sports they sponsor, to be a DI school you need to sponsor 15 sports, if you only sponsor 14 sports then you are a DII school. There are plenty of DII schools that routinely beat DI schools so let's not get so hung up on this DI thing.

Oh wow my bad. I thought they were both the same. I mean they both wear Red adidas jerseys too. But if GPS and Bayern Munich afe affiliated with them then they must be a solid club with the right leadership. Big assumption. GPS is a franchise model similar to Rush, the GA franchise has recently bought into NGSA out of Clarkesville and will now register under this GA Soccer affiliation. The link up with GA Storm was only for the registration. Not sure GPS (Bulldogs), is the place to go right now, if you are in Smyrna try Smyrna Soccer Club, the guys here seem to have a plan and are working towards improving the standard of soccer here.

Is there not some conflict of interest with TA being involved with GUSA and AUFC? I'm sensing you don't like TA? you posted about him 3x I don't know him personally. As of now he is with GUSA, there is no official anything of him being with AUFC but he does have a relationshipwith them, I remember pics where he was at the AUFC tryouts. From what happened with the CF not wanting to send U12 players to AUFC tryouts I would imagine that relationship is not going well so it makes perfect sense that they would have invited the GUSA boys Regarding Tony I am ambivalent, this whole thing about U12 DA tryouts is a storm in a tea cup, Tony was always going to prefer the GUSA club players over Con Fire players, he has proven that time after time as part of GUSA and there is no reason to believe things will change now that he is part of AUFC. The more interesting part will be to see what actual part of the MLS DA he is assigned to by his new boss.
