So how will this work for placement in the c1, c2 and below if these teams with ecnl move their c1 players to ecnl? Will ga soccer account for this and drop them to lower divisions? I think the same question is for clubs with RPL teams that move their top team to ENPL. For instance, why should the club retain their spot in RPL if those players are no longer around to play at that level? Unless, they recruit a bunch of kids that played RPL last year. Everything I've heard is that it's about the players. Some clubs, like GSA, are advertising both ENPL and RPL. They didn't have 2 RPL teams at a certain age level, so not sure how they can post this info for that age level on their tryout page.

Hoping to get your gut feelings/predictions about the boys side of this ENPL thing. My son has it in his head that it will house "better" teams than RPL, and it will be considered a "higher" league.

Yes in theory, but was under the impression they could only play if they quit DA etc. At the younger ages for most clubs, and all ages for CF, a club pass is easy - the players are already there. I am not sure if it matters whether some quit - the DA season is over, and the club wants to help the club. For AU, they let kids go, and I know of one club that snatched at least one up very quickly. I guess some could have quit ...

I found a regulation size Kwik Goal rebound net on Craigslist. Paid $125.

It is per the rules - club pass technically. We played a UFA team that rostered some AU players recently let go by AU, and they signed them to the club in time.

Was there a "great team" this year? Seems with age change, as you said, but also AU sending a ripple wave through all the clubs, I don't believe there was one club team in particular that ruled any age group.

SSA too, but not sure if it's the same partnership exactly, but SSA players can buy discounted tickets.

Playing near full time at your kid's appropriate level is the goal, I would say.
With regards to club, another club's top team may be the same or lower level than your current club's second team. I would pick the club with good coaching with growth opportunity.

Lots of truth to your comments superdude, not sure about the girls side of things but with the boys DA effectively run out of Norcross, I wonder if things will turn around or pick up? We should know if they are trending upwards with the U12s(2006-2007) and U13s(2005) DA tryouts occurring this week. That's my understanding - I believe the UFA DA 01/02 coach, Robin, will continue to coach an RPL team (probably the DA's second team for all intents and purposes) out of Norcross right?

Not that she was going for a top team, but I was told a couple years back (didn't ask the coach) that my daughter was "on the bubble". She ended up making the team. I'm sure it meant that some positions became available, but we took it!
Footy: I have pondered the same thing in the past, but never asked myself. Now that I think of it, it is what it is... go ahead and ask if it helps you plan tryouts for your kid.

I hear that it's very serious, close to no communication with the parents (coaching staff is a bit secretive), and keep in mind that they will not hesitate to replace your kid, if they find someone better the following year. When kids approaches the 2-year age groups, it's more of a reality. There are a lot of practices, which is good, but I heard second hand that it's not all about development, as they espouse.

I believe you can hit all 3 at a club, but it's hard to land all 3 at the same time. Go to a club that offers growth.

A same issue arose and is being dealt with in regards to their state championship football team from this year.

List of coaches slated for next year has become sort of a strategy game, coming much too late for parents to plan IMHO.

So, the girls' side has fielded RPL teams in recent years, the boys haven't. Believe me, I know that isn't the only metric. And yes, there are definitely rules/regs that city staff have to abide by, and they also have to be accountable to the taxpayers. I would just say as an example, look at the LAX tournament in Roswell every year - those involved discovered a true partnership with the City, within the same confines. And look at the City of Alpharetta's program: They had Super Y at the peak of its significance. I believe the current state boils down to the people involved and their willingness to find workable solutions for the older teams. You're right- it depends on the metric used. The girls have fielded one RPL team - but the coach and most of those players that earned that spot have now left the club. Retaining top talent on the girls side is something Roswell has lacked for years. The boys - while not achieving RPL status - have won Classic 1 at least once and those teams tend to stay together longer than the girls side does so they have the retention thing down but not the achievement - yet. Depends on which metric you want to use - 'success' or longevity. Regarding the 2000 and 2001 age girls that made RPL, there were some key players that left. But, the nail was the age rules change, which really hit that team hard. But for the record, a younger girls team, the U15s this year, made RPL as well.

ga3v3, thanks for sharing your personal experience. fanatic21, wow, that's a ton of great insight! Coach Q is who we met last night, seemed like a nice guy. Coach Janny Rivera and Ben Tayi are listed as 2005 boy coaches at Rush, but neither has bio listed. I am planning to make calls today and tomorrow to see if I can get some more specific info from the clubs regarding development philosophy and various other questions. The hard part is sifting the information and popular talking points that all clubs like to say from what plays out in reality. There are some good coaches at Santos - Q is a good guy and makes soccer fun for the kids. Overall Santos has a very good program for younger ages and probably stronger on the boys side. Like rifle said, they tend to lose kids at older ages for various reasons but that's not a reflection on the level of coaching at younger ages. The city of Roswell Recreation Department is incredible - that's who runs the facilities and they are gorgeous - combination of turf and grass and very very well maintained. Pity they don't rent them out for local tournaments but that's a government thing. One other slight downside to the Santos soccer program is the residency requirement for teams - at least half a team roster must be city of Roswell residents - limits an already limited playing pool. Rush has a good national reputation and the indoor facility so you won't miss as many practices as those clubs with only grass fields So I have to say in response, not to be argumentative is that the girl side has been more successful at Santos. Also to add, the City Recreation and park system is great, but the administration of the soccer program by certain individuals is exactly the reason why kids move on to other clubs as they age. To your case in point, no tournaments.

I have a decision to make. Thoughts on Driving 3 hours round trip to UFA for DA or 2 hours round trip to Concorde Fire DA. Thoughts? Girl or boy, what age group? 2 hours is way better than 3! You already have offers? What age?
