Sure there is incentive. Put forth a top team, it does really well and receives accolades. Ppeople come swarming to the program because of their reputation. Then they get tons of money from all of the other parents whose kids are on the lower teams. I have to imagine that the big clubs want to do well with their top teams to build a reputation. Build it and they will come.

I can say that my son is a November B-day. I have seen some kids we know who are very skillful not get picked on the highest of teams(DA,ECNL) due to their size, slowness, and they are also late B-days. My son is not an early bloomer, but he has been able to stay on the highest of teams due to his speed and build. He is usually the fastest player on the field and he is fairly stout with a low center of gravity. He rarely gets knocked off the ball when challenged. If he did not have his speed, he would probably be in the same boat as some of his friends. Regarding the article and concept of picking the earliest of birth year kids, I believe it is 100% true. I have witnessed it all. The bio-banding is a good idea, I wonder how that will work out in the coming years. My son has played against bigger kids his whole life and is better for it, but again, his speed has helped him quite a bit.

"I never understand why people get so pumped up over a "friendly" win" This was your quote no? This was your reply to me no? Did I sound so pumped that concorde won? I don't think so. So see you were just trying to be an idiot and start shizzle.
This quote, notice all in caps:
"IN SOCCER ONE GAME MEANS NOTHING WHEN COMPARING TEAMS. I have no dog in this AU vs CF fight. Just saying.. be happy that you won, CF parents. Be proud of your kids. But don't draw any conclusions from it."
I didn't make any statements comparing the teams or claiming one team was better. I just said what I saw. Nothing more, nothing less. Quit acting like an azz.

"I never understand why people get so pumped up over a "friendly" win" You got pumped out of my update, seems a little odd.

Nope, someone said that they were playing this weekend, but did not give updates. Had AU won, there would have been updates. Just putting an update up that maybe some people didn't care to see. There was no overjoy except for calling it how it was. There were not players named, no overjoy, just an update. It sounds like you're a little butt hurt.

Concorde was subbing 5 at a time and they also played 3 04's. Yes AU got dominated and Concorde missed a couple of sitters as well.

Concorde 03 ECNL beat AU 03's this weekend. From my view, AU got dominated. However to be fair AU was missing 3 normal starters. 4-2 Concorde.

I think everyone should worry about their kid and not others. Really who cares except nosy parents. My son plays DA and does not play high school. With that said, I have seen some DA players playing high school, but then again who cares. Live and let live as long as they are not affecting you, then who cares. If a coach catches someone, again who cares.

Carolina played 5 03's and 1 04 all with meaningful playing time. UFA only played 1 03 for 19 minutes. That was probably the difference in the game.

All coaches have different sets of eyes. Coaches change all of the time. There have been many changes at the tops of all of the soccer pyramids. Maybe some coaches see him differently than other coaches. This seems like more of a reason, more of a logical reason than what you posted. Conjecture still, but not putting the blame on "off the field issues" which sounds like you are blaming the kid for something that he has done wrong.

Conjecture. Your statement of "maybe it is off the field issues" is the issue. How about wow, I am not sure why they aren't playing him?

There are no off the field issues, comes from a great family. Quit trying to stir up something that isn't there.

I know AU had more tryouts last night. I am not sure if it was just the 03's or several other age groups.

Money grab. Did the invite have your son's name on it? I emailed them last year and asked them who did they recognize as an elite player. I said you sent it to me (parent) and I don't play soccer, so who were they inviting. They did not have an answer, so I told them to take me off their list.

I am sorry, but clubs deserve nothing. Parents pay for everything. Give the parents solidarity payments for all of the payments to clubs, car wear and tear, travel, so on and so forth. Do clubs deserve money for providing a service that they were paid for by the parents? This is the most a$$nine argument ever. If pay for play model is out the window then yes.

Check NCFC, Charlotte, Orlando, and some others. NCFC was listed as a marquee win, check the roster.

No doubt RD is a great coach. Remember that this age group is a weird one with the split ages. The majority of clubs have mostly 03's and play 03's on their teams. UFA has almost all 02's. What I see out of that is that clubs are working on development rather than winning. Concorde's ECNL team last year was their DA team prior. They moved the 15 DA team to 16 ECNl. Well they killed it in ECNL. Then this year they all moved back to DA. Well, look now, they are at the bottom of the table. All of the teams who played up their younger ones are now killing it. Development vs winning.

ECNl fees of 1695. Travel fees 700.00 covers tournament fees and coaches. Then fees for traveling to Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Oklahoma, Sanford, Jefferson Cup. A parent is responsible for their own child. Add up flights for at least 2 to all of those places and hotel/rental car and we are probably talking 6-7K for travel plus the above fees.

Need less a**hole parents!!! My son reffed for a year before he hung it up. Reason, a**hole parents. There will be a shortage of refs until someone steps in and holds parents accountable.

I was told by the coach that nothing is guaranteed. High level playing team. So to ensure the kid has a place to play, I know have to cover bases.

Our family will be out of the country during tryouts. What are the rules regarding contacting coaches/clubs beforehand? What could I do as a parent to ensure that my child has a place to play at? I know there are "Recruiting" rules in place, but can I contact others? What would you do?
