One coach that yells "pick it up", "come on man", "run!!" That's the extent of his tactical adjustments. He could sell eyeglasses to Stevie Wonder but couldnt develop a cold.

What will probably happen is the better players will wind up on the first or second team at NTH Buckhead playing for Ted or Troy

I don't understand the term "steal", if players want a more challenging environment and want to be surrounded by players of like ability/expectations they will go on their own. Like you, I've never understood the penchant for parents using the term "steal" Last I checked don't the parents of the players or the players themselves always have to be willing participants in this colossal theft that is occurring. Top clubs attract good players, again I don't understand why people say "steal", just like when people say when good players go to NTH, CF, etc the same refrain is "they were developed somewhere else", so people just assume that there's a cap or age that players stop developing? It is entirely possible that players outgrow their environment, want to be surrounded by better players, or play at a higher level. Let's put it this way, if we are plugging away at a middling job at Comcast and Google knocks on your door and says "we've had our eye on you for a while and you're a promising talent" I bet just about all of us would accept Google's offer in a New York minute. Don't begrudge the same opportunity for the players.

The idea that female players should bypass college is ill advised. Unless you are in the top 1% and a potential regular fixture on the USWNT I would encourage the players to pursue a college degree.
Given the current landscape who knows if the NWSL will even exist in five years. A degree gives the player an opportunity to hopefully be financially self sufficient, the average NWSL salary does not allow most players to be self sufficient, not to mention any career ending injury that might happen with nothing to fall back on with a lack of a degree.

I've been coaching with the 02 Boys ODP Team for a number of years, a few years ago I believe we had the most or second most number of kids selected to the region pool in that age group. The following year we lost probably a third of our team to AU and orher DA programs, both of my former ODP GK's now both play for Atlanta United. There are several current ODP players on the team that were offered DA spots but declined for various reasons.
There are 7 or 8 current Atlanta United U16 Boys that started on the 2002 Boys ODP Team. Since the ODP Boys teams practice at the AU training facility, the AU academy coaches will come out and scout practices sometimes.
The 2002 ODP Team was/is a very solid group on the Boys side, I would wager they lost more kids to AU and other DA programs than any other age group the last couple years, that should attest to the quality of the players. To essentially have a third of our former pool playing DA now and eight for Atlanta United, the ability for the ODP starting 11 to out play AU for most of the first half with limited practices and not playing together full time is a testament to the quality of those players.

I wasn't at the game as I was coaching at NTH today, but did a report from the ODP head coach that the ODP Boys played very well the first half and for big stretches outplayed AU. The depth of the first 12 or 13 for the ODP Team did well but after a large number of subs at halftime the depth of AU was better.

They play each other tomorrow at the AU training facility, since the sub region event was cancelled in January this will be the 2002 ODP team's first meaningful action this cycle, should be an interesting matchup tomorrow.

Some of this stuff isn't 100% accurate nor do I believe some of the ramifications or negative impacts to the 6 clubs. There have been complaints about RPL for years in terms of level of competition, organization, timely communication, etc. If nothing changes sometimes entities have to do whats best for their population/participants.

For her sport Marta has been unquestioned the best player for almost a decade, she should be in the top 10 in my book. Most other sports have several top players: LeBron, KD and Steph...Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar...Federer, Nadal, Novak, etc. Marta has been the top of the hill in her sport, unfortunately that hasn't translated to team success.

All this "infrastructure" money for what? We've seen with the last few World Cups and Olympics these countries build these new venues and most are now dormant or just falling apart.

Several listed on the opposition club list are the biggest violators of illegal recruiting in the state, doesn't lend a lot of credence to their argument.

It might be nice to state what level you play or coach at when responding to this... From my experience, that will sometimes play a factor in how strictly rules are enforced with missing training/practice. It shouldn't matter really, life lessons and teachable moments should apply to all. That's why so many athletes get in trouble repeatedly because people look the other way because they happen to do something really well . For the record its Athena A level, if it was DA or ECNL I would do the exact same thing.

College Coaches can probably find out and the soccer community is smaller than you think. When I'm recruiting for colleges I look over a recruits social media accounts as well to perform our due diligence on character assessments.

Unfortunately every team I’ve been on the Coach will play the best players no matter if they miss practices or show up late even if it’s not excused. The top team’s best players usually get away with it and may get punished in practice but never games. I think they should be addressed during game time. Staying on the branch more than normally or not starting is a good way to get the message across but you have to treat all equal. Haven’t seen equal treatment between coaches and players on the same team. Sad that a coach would show favoritism to different players, especially outside of games. That doesn't fly on my teams, everyone is held accountable to the same rules, the life lessons are far more impactful than wins/loses.

For my teams if its illness, church or a school related activity that's for a grade then no it doesn't impact their playing time or starting role. If its for another activity, sport or social event then yes playing time is adjusted accordingly.

My message wasn't a slight to IAFC or their players, I know a number of their coaches personally, they serve their community very well. I just dont think we need another mega merger, especially one that isn't in close proximity to each other.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the US taking the lead in the FIFA corruption case or our illustrious President referring to African nations as s'hole countries. Certainly not a way to endear yourself to the rest of the world.

Can't push the spring season too much, as it will overlap into State Cup. Additionally many teams participate in tournaments during the regular season and already have to blackout those weekends from the GA Soccer schedule
